Privacy policy

Last updated October 15, 2026

The short version: no accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies, and nothing that identifies you. The site counts visits and a few gameplay moments anonymously to see how the game is doing. Your game saves stay in your browser. If you use the contact form, your message is emailed to the game's inbox, levelcrawl@gmail.com, and used only to reply.

Game saves

Level Crawl stores your current run, stats, achievements and settings (including that you've seen the content heads-up) in your browser's local storage on your device. This data is never sent to levelcrawl.com or anyone else. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Daily Dungeon leaderboard

Posting a Daily Dungeon score is optional. If you post, the site stores the name you type (don't use your real name if you'd rather not), your score and the run's details (class, kills, gold, turns, and what killed you). These appear publicly on that day's leaderboard. Each day's number one is kept in the public list of past champions; all other scores are deleted a few days after that day ends. To stop spam, the site also stores a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address and the date. It can't be turned back into your IP address, it changes every day, and it's deleted with the scores. To have a name removed, ask through the contact form.

Endless Abyss leaderboard

Posting a finished Endless Abyss dive to the world leaderboard is optional. If you post, the site stores the name you type (don't use your real name if you'd rather not) and the dive's details: how deep you got, your level, kills, species, class and specialization, and what killed you. The board shows each name's deepest dive publicly, all time and for the current week. To stop spam, the site also stores a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address and the date, which can't be turned back into your IP address and changes every day. To have a name removed, ask through the contact form.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer is optional. When you open it, your browser or app connects to the Level Crawl game server (hosted by Fly.io in the United States). The server gets the name and species you pick and what you do in the game, and shares your name, species and character with the other players in your lobby. There are no accounts. Nothing is saved: a lobby and everything in it is deleted from the server's memory when its players leave. The server sees your IP address to keep the connection open; the game server doesn't log or store it. A short random code is kept in your browser for the session so you can rejoin your seat if the connection drops.

In-game feedback

Sending feedback from the Leave feedback button is optional. If you send it, the site stores what you wrote and the kind of report you picked, along with details about the game you were playing so the report makes sense: the game version, the mode, your floor, turns, level, species and class, whether the run was still going, the platform (website, itch.io, iPhone or Android app), your screen size, and the country your request came from as reported by Cloudflare. It doesn't ask for or store your name, email address, IP address or any account. To stop spam, the site also stores a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address and the date, which can't be turned back into your IP address and changes every day. Reports are read by the game's creator (with help from Claude, an AI assistant) to find bugs and decide what to change, and are never sold or shared. Please don't put personal information in your message.

Contact form

If you send a message, the site emails what you entered (your message, topic, and your name and email address if you give them) to the Level Crawl inbox (levelcrawl@gmail.com), along with the country your request came from as reported by Cloudflare, to help spot spam. It's used only to read and reply to your message. It isn't sold, shared or added to any mailing list, and it's kept in the creator's inbox for as long as needed to deal with your message. To have your messages deleted, ask through the contact form.

Streamer mode (Twitch)

Streamer mode is off unless you turn it on. When it's on, your browser connects directly to Twitch as an anonymous guest to read the public chat of the channel you typed in. Chat messages are read only in your browser to count votes and commands. They are never sent to levelcrawl.com or stored. The channel name is saved in your browser's settings only. Twitch sees the connection and your IP address, like any visit to Twitch.

Anonymous analytics

To see how many people play and where runs end, the site uses cookie-free analytics:

This data is used only in aggregate to balance and improve the game. It is never sold or used for advertising.

Reward codes

Long-time players can earn a reward code in the game. To hand out the code (and the same code again if you ask twice), the game sends a random code it made for this installation, which isn't tied to your name, account or device, and the platform you play on. The code and that random install code are kept so each reward is given and redeemed only once.

Hosting and security

levelcrawl.com is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. The creator does not use this information to identify or track you.

Fonts

The site loads its pixel fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which see your IP address. Google states that it does not use Google Fonts requests to build advertising profiles.

Cookies

Level Crawl does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site.

Children

Level Crawl is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information through the contact form, please get in touch and it will be deleted.

Your choices

You can clear your saves at any time in your browser, use the site without giving any personal information, and ask for any message or feedback you've sent or any leaderboard name you've posted to be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
