Patch Notes
Transmitted directly from your host, who is always watching. Complaints may be submitted into the nearest pit.
Level Crawl is in beta as of v0.50.0, the launch version. Version 1.0 comes once players have had a go and told us what to fix. Before that it was in alpha. Older builds went out numbered 1.something; legal pointed out that 1.0 means "finished", and nothing down here is finished. So every release below now wears its honest alpha number: v1.21 is v0.21, and so on. Same builds, same bugs, humbler labels. Version 1.0 is saved for the full launch.
v0.65.1
October 15, 2026
- Fixed: on phones with the full screen HUD, closing the bag left a see-through ghost of it stuck over the map (with buttons you could still hit by accident), and the touch stick could get stuck pushed to one side. The bag now really closes, and the stick lets go the moment your thumb does, the app loses focus or anything hides it. It will no longer walk you into a rat's mouth on its own.
- Fixed a rare freeze on the web where you couldn't move or skip the host's line until you refreshed.
- The privacy policy now covers the Endless Abyss leaderboard.
- The death recap now says 'An' before names that start with a vowel.
v0.65.0 "Prime Time"
October 15, 2026
- Easy mode, from your very first run: a third more time on every floor clock, 30% more health and shops 30% cheaper. It says EASY on the HUD and on your share card, pays half the career points, and its wins don't count toward the win trophies, Hard Mode or Ratings. Training wheels. No shame. Some shame.
- Ratings: win a run and the network starts a ladder of ten Ratings, picked on the new-run screen on Normal or Hard. Each one stacks one more twist on everything below it (a shorter clock, diva Headliners, inflation, more odd floors, budget cuts to healing, more Fan Favorites, a rowdier crowd, and so on up to Prime Time). Win at your highest Rating to unlock the next. Career shows your best Rating with every species, and progress codes carry them (older apps still read the new codes).
- Fixed: a pit, a dog or an explosive barrel could land on the block puzzle's rail and jam the block for good, which locked the stairs until the floor fell in. Nothing parks on the rail now.
- Balance: the home stretch got a lot meaner. From floor 10 down, monsters and Headliners bulk up and hit harder every floor, so the last floors are a proper finale instead of a victory lap. Winning a run is meant to be rare now. Our best test bot wins about one run in twenty.
- Balance: the species that kept dying early got some help. Hellspawn (more STR and CON, +8% crit, only -5 max health, faster Infernal Mark), Ogre (+30 max health, +1 armor, only 2 fewer bag slots), Half-Orc (+20% damage, +10 max health), Fungoid (+10 max health, only -1 armor, faster Regrow), Animatronic (+10 max health, potions and food only 25% weaker), Mimicfolk (+1 armor, +10 max health), Turnipfolk (+10% dodge, more STR and CON), Minotaur (+1 armor, +10 max health, faster Gore) and Dwarf (+3 armor). Nobody got nerfed.
- COMBO! When two things stack, the crowd loses it: set fire to grass or an oiled monster, shatter something frozen, zap something wet, splat a monster into a wall or onto spikes, poison and bleed the same poor sod, set off a chain of barrels, finish a monster your pet started on, or kill two at once. Every combo pops on screen, gets a line from the host or the crowd, and pays a little Hype. 23 to find, and the Career screen has a new Combos found page that lists them all (the ones you haven't found yet are a ??? with a hint).
- Fifteen new spells, all built to set up combos: Oil Slick, Venom Dart, Paper Cuts, Gust, Flash Freeze, Shatter, Wall of Fire, Water Balloon, Smoke and Mirrors, Sic 'Em, Tractor Beam, Detonate, Spore Burst, Jinx and Death Knell. Thirty spells in all. Fifteen more classes now start with one, and their tomes turn up in crates and on the library shelves.
- Monsters can now be poisoned, bleeding, soaked, oiled or frozen solid, and they change colour so you can tell. Knockback got teeth: knock a monster into a wall and it splats, into spikes, fire or a pit and it's worse.
- Talents got their first shake-up in forever. The plain stat bumps (Thick Skin, Built Different, Born Lucky, Teacher's Pet, Gold Digger) are retired, and nine new ones make things stack: Kindling, Ice Queen, Lightning Rod, Toxic Personality, Serrated Edge, Pinball Wizard, Crowd Pleaser, Spellsword and Now You See Me.
- The host is your tutorial now. The first time something matters, he explains it in one line, once, and never again: the floor timer (it counts turns, not seconds), Hype, the crowd's mood, gold, scrap, locked stairs (Headliner dead AND stair puzzle solved), the lost species hiding deep down, and what career points and Fame ranks are for. The class pick on floor 3 and the specialization on floor 9 open with a quick lesson on species versus class. Solo runs only.
- Odd floors come with a rule card the first time you meet each one: the single rule that kills people there (belts push you, airlocks drag you, the torch burns out...). After that, just the banner.
- Death recap: the host replays your death on air. What got you, how hard the last hit landed and how much of it was overkill, and one tip for that exact way of dying. The share card carries the recap too.
- The floor timer gets louder as it runs out: amber at a quarter left, red and pulsing at a tenth, frantic for the last 10 turns, with an alarm at each step (once per floor).
- The Endless Abyss has a world leaderboard. When a dive ends, post it and see where you land, all time and this week, with each Delver's deepest dive on the board. Find it on the Abyss screen. The hole has fans now.
- More to earn by dying: 16 outfit colours, 14 name titles ("Dale the Rat Botherer", shown on your HUD, by the host and on your tombstone), 7 entrances (smoke bomb, sewer splash, confetti, pyro, lightning, a money shower, a grand portal) and 6 new starting pets, all unlocked by career milestones on the website and in the apps, plus Fame ranks in the apps. Pick them under Wardrobe when you start a run; Career shows what's left and how to get it.
- Six new starting pets, each with a small perk: Kevin the Pigeon brings you gold, Gossip the Crow stuns, Doug the Slime sniffs out spike traps, Wiggles the Leech heals you as it bites, Sparky the Fire Beetle sets things alight and Close-Up the Camera Eye zaps from range and pumps your Hype with every kill.
- The host has running storylines that carry on across runs, one beat at a time: his feud with the cheese sponsor, a rival contestant called Brock, the Network threatening to cancel the show, and Kyle the intern's rise to power. Catch up with "Previously on" at the start of a run, reruns on the Green Room TV, callbacks on air, and "The story so far" in Career.
- Ten new Sewers critters so floor 1 isn't the same faces every run: Drain Crawdads, Flushed Baby Gators that charge, self-healing Sewer Leeches, bottle-throwing Sewer Punks, Drain Monks who heal the others, Flushed Pythons that hold you in place, Grease Puddles that pretend to be puddles, Gutter Gunk that pops, Urinal Cake Cubes that swallow your loot and Toilet Water that can flush you across the floor.
- The host stopped repeating himself: hundreds of new lines, and every pool plays through before any line comes round again. He also remembers what you heard last run, and opens with jokes you haven't heard lately. New quips on every floor and for good finds.
- Colour-blind mode (Settings, Visuals): pick deuteranopia, protanopia or tritanopia and every red-means-danger, green-means-good colour moves to ones you can tell apart, on health bars, damage numbers, the log, the map and the chat votes. The log and votes also get little marks, so nothing leans on colour alone.
- High contrast (Settings, Visuals): thick outlines around you, monsters, teammates and items, and brighter, bolder text and borders. The host recommends it for anyone playing on a phone in the sun, or after a few drinks.
- Slow phone? The game now notices. If it keeps stuttering, the host quietly turns down effects (particles and filters first, then lighting) and tells you once. Settings, Visuals, Quality: Auto, or pick High or Low yourself.
- Daily Dungeon share card: your score, your world rank once you post it, five squares for the day's goals (kills, gold, Hype, the Headliner, the stairs) and the hearts you had left. No map, no spoilers, maximum bragging. The copied text gets the same squares.
- Headliner battles no longer ambush you through walls. The show only cuts to the battle screen when you're two steps away with nothing in between, or the moment you hit a Headliner with anything, from anywhere. The host explains it the first time, because the audience loves a close-up.
- The species screen puts the species you can play up top. The locked ones fold away under a "Locked" button, tap it to see what each one takes.
- New music. Headliners get their own battle track, faster and nastier, in their zone's key, the moment one wakes up in sight. Every odd floor plays its own spin on the zone's loop: the Factory Floor clanks, the Train chugs, Lights Out barely hums and the Backlot sounds like a cheap game show, because it is one.
- The audience at home got eleven new ways to meddle, in chat votes and the every-third-floor audience vote: make it rain gold, fan mail XP, a lullaby that puts the floor to sleep, a mana and ammo refill, a sack of scrap, the dinner bell, a little gang, a curse, a round of boos, free bandages for the monsters and a surprise teleport.
- levelcrawl.com got a proper front door. Every visit now opens on the studio floor with the ON AIR light blinking, a few clips from this season, the whole species line-up marching past, and one big button to play free in your browser. The swearing warning is still there. It just learned to be brief.
- Pre-show sweep: the share card fits the host's whole death recap instead of cutting him off mid-sentence (and the Daily card carries it too), the odd floor rule card no longer sits on top of the host on phones, a late-night run start no longer trips over the Insomniac achievement, and the run-start screen lost its awkward empty gap.
v0.60.0 "New Set"
October 15, 2026
- The network fired the old set decorator. Everything has a new look: every monster, Delver, item, wall, floor, torch and barrel is new 16-bit pixel art, with idle animations on almost everything that breathes.
- Every zone has its own tileset, from slimy sewer stone to frozen caves, and the Studio is now all metal corridors and blinking panels. Rest Stops have wooden floors. Rooms are dressed with props.
- Spells look like spells. Fireballs trail flame and spit embers, frost rays leave ice, lightning forks, and every hit lands with its own burst. Melee hits slash, crits flash, the dead go up in smoke.
- Headliner battles: in solo runs, meeting a floor boss up close cuts to a turn-based battle screen. Attack, use your ability or an item, Defend, or Taunt for Hype. Every Headliner announces its next move a turn ahead and gets nastier at half health. Running is not an option. Prefer the old way? Settings, Gameplay, Boss battles: On the map.
- Six new spells: Meteor, Holy Light, Shield Bubble, Blink Bolt, Poison Cloud and Ice Shards. Find their tomes in the dungeon.
- Six new species: Gnoll, Drow, Treant, Turnipfolk, Android and Grey Alien. Fungoids are now a different mushroom every run.
- Wardrobe got a budget. Pick a class and your Delver dresses for it: Human and Halfling Knights clank in plate, Wizards get a proper robe, Snipers join a space marine squad, Goblin Hedge Witches get the hat. Androids, Animatronics and Stunt Doubles grab the right gun instead, and every class has its own emblem on the job board. Every species now rolls one of several looks per run (yes, some Elves are from space), and the Showrunner, his extras, the cultists and the Lost Skier finally learned to point their weapons at you. New in the Studio: the Pink Extra.
- About a hundred new monsters, cast and crew. Alien eggs hatch if you dawdle. Gelatinous cubes eat whatever is lying on the floor; kill one to get it back. Zombie hands grab ankles in the Catacombs, the Focus Group's notes hurt your Charisma, and a Toilet Djinn will flush you somewhere else. New Guest Stars, horned-knight mini-bosses, odd strangers with gifts, and a Capture the Flag episode against a space marine squad. Some runs swap in a different Headliner: the Grill Golem, the Co-Hosts or the Canceller.
- Overgrowth: a new spell that roots a target and grows tall grass you can hide in. Grass burns.
- Teleports stopped sliding you across the map like a sad shopping trolley. The Toilet Djinn now swirls you down a whirlpool and a geyser spits you out somewhere else, dripping. Mystery Potions fizz you into purple light, the Panic Button rockets you off to a siren, and Portals, Clips, Blurs, Blink Shades and pets all have their own way of blinking out and back in.
- Monsters show off too: summons open a red circle, healers beam green light, chargers kick up dust, thieves fling your coins, camera eyes lock a red beam on you, hecklers throw tomatoes, webs pin you, eggs crack and hatch in slime, spore pods choke the room and mimics burst out of their crates. Shooters fire ink, knives, tracers, screams and junk instead of the same old dot.
- Explosive barrels have a fuse now. Walk into one (or tap it) to light it, then you have 4 turns: it blows up everything within two tiles, you included. Walk into a lit one to roll it at someone. The blast is a lot bigger. So is the insurance premium.
- New floor: the Metal Tangle. A random snarl of subway lines with live trains on them. Red lights on the track mean a train is coming; get hit and you're thrown off the line. Crew trains drop off monsters at the junctions, and the green flatcars are free rides. Find the stairs.
- New floor: the Mine. Caves full of gold in the walls (walk into a vein and swing; every swing wakes the neighbours), dynamite stuck in thin walls (light it, run, enjoy your new shortcut) and mine carts with no brakes that bowl over anything on the track.
- New floor: Cell Block. A prison wing of locked cells, every one holding loot, a monster or both. A lever at the end of each row throws every door on that side at once. Pull it again to lock them back up, if they're still inside. Pull all six for the Jailbreak achievement.
- New floor: the Haunted Manor. Twelve rooms, and the house moves its doors whenever you're not looking (it always leaves you a way to the stairs, it says). Ghosts climb out of the graveyard out back and drift straight through the walls to get to you.
- New floor: the Rising Tide. A sewer main burst upstairs and the floor floods a row at a time from one end. Swimming is slow (every stroke takes two turns), the raised stone platforms stay dry, and the flood is real water, so lightning loves it. Get to the dry end.
- New floor: the Space Station. The airlocks were installed by the lowest bidder: now and then one blows open and drags you and every monster nearby toward the stars. Monsters that reach the hole are gone for good. Fight the wind, walk into the big yellow door, slam it shut.
- New floor: the Frozen Lake. A big sheet of ice with rooms round the shore. Step on it and you slide until you hit something: a rock, a snow patch, a wall, a face. Monsters slide too, and they're worse at it. Skate into one to bowl it over.
- New floor: the Factory Floor. Conveyor belts push you, the monsters and the loot one tile a turn (walk with them to go double speed), and crushers stamp on the beat. Yellow light flashing means it comes down next turn. Monsters fed into a crusher are recycled.
- New floor: Lights Out. Pitch black except round the braziers. Your torch burns down: walk into a lit brazier to light it again, or carry the flame to a cold one. Monsters hunt your light; let it go out and you can sneak past them, if you can find your own feet.
- New floor: the Overgrowth. A forest floor of clearings and half-buried trails. Walk into the brush to hack through it (a turn a bush); monsters can't get through it, so they follow the paths you cut, and everything you cut grows back. Some of the bushes are Snapbushes. They bite.
- New floor: the Backlot. Streets of fake-front buildings where half the doors are painted on (walk into one and you bonk your face; it costs the turn). The real ones lead inside to the loot, the Rest Stop and the sound stage. Between scenes Gary the stagehand wheels the scenery walls somewhere else.
- Every odd floor (the Sprawl, the Night Train, the Maze, the Gauntlet, the Metal Tangle), special episode and secret side floor now airs at most once a run.
- Audience votes: on some floors the studio audience votes on a twist. You can pitch them, and Charisma helps.
- A cold open plays the first time the show starts. Tap to skip, or watch it again from Settings.
- New panels, bars and buttons all over the interface.
- The set decorator came back for the stragglers: locked chests (now with a padlock you could see from orbit), the Altar of Bad Deals, cursed fountains, shrines, levers, push blocks, pressure plates, mines, slot machines, Game Show doors, cracked secret walls, Snodbury's signposts and shop signs, the boss crown, the pet heart and every last leftover one-colour prop and icon finally got their 16-bit paint job.
- Beat the floor 6 Headliner to earn Old School, which unlocks 1-bit mode in Settings: the original one-colour look.
- Multiplayer checks your version at the door. Party with someone on an older version of the game and it tells them to update, instead of letting them in to watch a hundred monsters they can't see.
v0.50.1 "Pick Me"
October 13, 2026
- Picking who you play is quicker. Tap a species and the game asks "Confirm?" with Yes or No. Yes takes you to a fresh screen for your name, Hard Mode and contracts, so nobody scrolls past every species to find the name box.
- "Race" is now "species" everywhere in the game.
- The Back and Game Center buttons on the achievements list moved to the top.
- New achievement for anyone who scrolls to the bottom of the achievements list anyway.
- The message box at the bottom keeps one size, so the game view no longer jumps when the host talks. Long messages scroll inside the box.
- Settings now has a Privacy Policy link. In the apps it opens the policy right inside the game.
- Android: after a new deepest floor or a win, Google Play may ask if you'd like to rate the game. It asks rarely, and never more than four times.
v0.50.0 "Doors Open"
October 13, 2026
- Launch version. Level Crawl leaves alpha and is now in beta. Version 1.0 comes after players have had their say.
- The explosive barrel finally looks like a barrel (with a lit fuse) instead of a hook. Plain decorative barrels no longer share its look, so the one you can roll is the one that goes boom.
- New credit line at the bottom of the menu: "Game by James Schay. Play more at JamesSchay.com."
v0.49.23 "Found It"
October 13, 2026
- iPhone: Game Center actually connects now. Your achievements show up in Apple Games, and the Game Center button opens them.
- iPhone: the clock, battery and signal are back at the top of the screen.
v0.49.22 "Sign Here, Please"
October 13, 2026
- iPhone: Game Center sign-in no longer gets stuck when Apple wants to show its sign-in screen at launch.
v0.49.21 "Is This Thing On?"
October 13, 2026
- iPhone: the Achievements screen shows whether Game Center is connected, and if it isn't, why.
v0.49.20 "Press Start"
October 13, 2026
- iPhone: the Game Center button on the Achievements screen opens Apple's achievements again. If you're not signed in to Game Center, it tells you how.
v0.49.19 "Now Tracking Your Every Move"
October 12, 2026
- Game Center, on the iPhone app! 100 of our achievements now show up in Apple's Game Center too, so your friends can see exactly how many times you died on floor 1. There's a Game Center button on the Achievements screen. Anything you already earned gets sent over when you sign in, even if you sign in months from now.
v0.49.18 "Dead Center"
October 12, 2026
- The Level Crawl app icon is now properly centered. The skull and the letters had drifted a little left and low.
- Streamer mode: a Twitch name that trips the slur filter shows up as "Someone in chat" when they send a potion or a monster.
- The phone apps no longer show a "How streamer mode works" link that went nowhere.
v0.49.17 "Open Casting"
October 11, 2026
- Level Crawl 3D held open auditions. Sixteen monsters got new costumes, the Bone Janitor and Pastor Grimsby got real boss bodies, and thirteen weapons got new models. Details in the 3D notes.
v0.49.16 "Swing First, Ask Later"
October 11, 2026
- Auto-attack is on by default: walk into an awake enemy and you hit it instead of bumping into it. Rather bump? Settings, Controls, "Auto-attack". If you already turned it off, it stays off.
v0.49.15 "Is This Thing On?"
October 11, 2026
- Streamer mode only listens while you're actually live. Offline, chat can't vote or send potions and monsters, and the top bar shows a grey OFF AIR tag until your stream starts. Want to test with chat first? Settings, Streaming, "Offline testing".
- You pick how long chat votes last: 20, 30, 45, 60 or 90 seconds, so viewers on a stream delay get their say. The default went up from 20 to 30 seconds.
- New "Big text for stream" button in the Streaming tab: bigger text, bigger hit numbers and a vote box your viewers can read. Text size now goes up to 175%, and the vote box has its own size slider.
- The Streaming tab lists the steps in the same order as the For Streamers page, and your channel name saves as you type. No more hunting for the Enter key.
v0.49.14 "We Get It, You Did It"
October 6, 2026
- Achievements you already own stop popping up on every run. They still count (the crates and Hype still show up), the host just stops making a fuss. Miss the fuss? Settings, Interface, "Repeat achievement popups".
v0.49.13 "No Delver Left Behind (Mostly)"
October 6, 2026
- Brisket's career-day talk on floor 3 has a "Skip to the jobs" button now, and "Pick your class" in the Info panel always goes straight to the jobs, even mid-speech. Brisket has been informed. Brisket is not taking it well.
- Multiplayer: the career-day talk could get stuck or start over for the host, so nobody could pick a class. Fixed.
- Multiplayer: getting left behind actually matters now. Anyone who bled out or was still on the floor when it collapsed lands on the next floor DOWN, and the party has one minute to pull them up. If nobody does, they are out for the rest of the run. Choose your friends carefully.
v0.49.12 "Chat Is This Real"
October 6, 2026
- Fixed: streamers lost their stats and inventory panels. The Twitch LIVE chip was quietly deleting a button it mistook for itself, and everything after it fell over. It now minds its own business.
- Streamer mode now works in multiplayer. Chat votes, sponsored potions and surprise monsters all land on the streamer's own Delver, and only theirs. Chat can no longer touch the floor clock in multiplayer, since your friends share it and did not consent to your audience.
v0.49.11 "Technical Difficulties"
October 6, 2026
- Fixed: turning on streamer mode with a Twitch channel stopped the site from loading at all in that browser, even after a refresh. Our sincere apologies to the streamer who found this, and to their chat, who presumably saw everything. The game now loads and connects to chat as intended.
v0.49.10 "Hold That Thought"
October 4, 2026
- Talking to someone no longer makes the game view jump each time a new line starts. The talk box keeps its size for the whole conversation and only goes back to normal when the talk ends or you walk away.
v0.49.9 "Costume Change"
October 4, 2026
- Level Crawl 3D: the Puddle Squid and the Grease Fire got new costumes again. Wardrobe needed the old ones back. Details in the 3D notes.
v0.49.8 "New Faces"
October 4, 2026
- Level Crawl 3D got a casting call. The Gator Kingpin, the Swamp Troll, the Hype Machine, the Laugh Track, Frost Queen Wendy, the Puddle Squid, the Grease Fire, the Iron Grill, the Sewer Hermit and the Nun of Your Business all have real costumes now, and the Mimic Crate finally looks like a crate until it bites. Details in the 3D notes.
v0.49.7 "Previously, on The Descent"
October 4, 2026
- New players get a tutorial. On your first solo runs I pause the show at the right moments to explain moving, attacking (walking into a monster still does nothing, you have to MEAN it), your ability, your bag, the map, the stairs and the floor timer, and Rest Stops and shops. The tips match what you're holding: joystick, keyboard or controller.
- Every tip has a Skip tutorial button. Settings, Interface has Replay tutorial if you want the whole lecture again.
- No tutorial in multiplayer, the Daily Dungeon, the Endless Abyss or Test build. If you've already played on this device, you won't get it unless you ask for it.
v0.49.6 "Egg Timer"
October 3, 2026
- Floor 13: Snodbury now reminds you, loudly and often, that the Abominable Snowbro has to die before the stairs open. The townsfolk bring it up, I bring it up, and the stairs bring it up. He has been eyeing the turnips.
- New side quest: Farmer Hobb's three hens got loose in the outskirts. Bump one and she sprints home on her own. Get all three back and Hobb hands over his egg timer: +150 turns on the floor timer, or +60 seconds in multiplayer. Ask Hobb ("Need a hand?") or read the farm sign.
v0.49.5 "Welcome Back"
October 3, 2026
- Sound and music now come back when you return to the app. Before, leaving the app or locking the phone could leave it silent until you restarted. If the phone still holds the sound for a moment, your next tap brings it back.
v0.49.4 "Hold Still"
October 3, 2026
- Phones: while someone was talking, the dialogue box grew one row at a time as the words typed out, shoving the game view up with every new line. The box now makes room for the whole line the moment it starts. Brisket's monologues are exactly as long as before. Sorry.
v0.49.3 "Already Employed"
October 3, 2026
- Test build: if you pick a class in the Test build menu, the game no longer stops you on floor 3 or later to pick a class, or on floor 9 or later to specialize. You can still open the pick from the power button. Pick "No class" and you get the normal class pick.
v0.49.2 "Tuck It Away"
October 3, 2026
- Multiplayer, in 2D and 3D: the party bar at the top can now be folded away. Tap the little arrow at its end and it shrinks to one chip with your ping and frame rate. Tap it again to bring back your party, Invite, Ping and Leave. Your choice is remembered on each device. A Pull Up button for a downed teammate still shows up while it's folded.
v0.49.1 "Off Switch"
October 3, 2026
- On the Test build setup screen, dev mode now has an off switch: swipe the bottom row backwards (the last button left, then the middle and first ones right). On a keyboard it's the cheat code backwards. Any wrong swipe or key in the middle of either code means starting it over.
v0.49.0 "On the Clock"
October 3, 2026
- Multiplayer (2D and 3D, web and apps) now runs every "turns" effect on real time. Multiplayer has no turns, so these used to tick five times a second and ran out almost at once. Now one turn is one second: a 5-turn freeze lasts 5 seconds, a 4-turn cooldown recharges in 4 seconds, and 40 turns in disguise is 40 seconds.
- That covers buffs and potions (Bouncy Star, giant, Hold the Line, Smoke Bomb, walking through walls, disguises), debuffs on you (webs, poison, burning) and on monsters (stuns, freezes, hexes, scares), ability cooldowns, Undo, health and mana trickles, and short-lived fires.
- Summoned helpers stay three times as long: skeletons raised for 25 turns now stick around for 75 seconds, a 20-turn Rat Whistle lasts a minute. Their timers also count down once for the whole floor now; before, every Delver in the party wore them down at the same time.
- Poison deals the same total damage as before, just spread over its real duration instead of all in one go.
- In multiplayer, every description, log line and tooltip says seconds instead of turns, and the ability button counts down in seconds. Solo play is unchanged and still runs on turns.
v0.48.1 "Build Your Own Nightmare"
October 3, 2026
- For those who know the staff-only code: the floor picker grew up. Pick the floor, then its type (classic rooms, big halls, a warren, The Sprawl, the Night Train, the Maze, the Gauntlet, or Snodbury itself), tonight's condition (Blackout, Speed Round, Flood Night and the rest of the lineup), or a special episode (the Arena, the Heist, the Escape, the Game Show).
- Yes, you can now put the Maze on floor 13 during a Blackout. No, the host will not be held responsible.
v0.48.0 "Staff Only Beyond This Point"
October 3, 2026
- Test build got stricter. Every test now starts on floor 1, and a new Enemy level slider makes the monsters there hit and soak like they would on any floor up to 18. Want to know if your build survives floor 14 without walking there? Slide it to 14 and find out the cheap way.
- Plain Test build keeps the good stuff locked: no floor pick, no secret races or classes, no Legendary loot, and the secret rooms are bricked up. Guest Stars took the day off too. The host calls this "protecting the mystery". Legal calls it "fewer spoilers on stream".
- Somewhere out there is a staff-only code that opens the whole sandbox: every floor, every secret, every Legendary. The old cheat code no longer does it. Insiders know a longer one. We will not be taking questions.
- New Random build button on the Test build screen, for when you want the dungeon to pick your race, class and level and then blame you for it.
- Test runs still count for nothing. Your real record stays spotless, or at least as spotless as it was.
v0.47.7 "Snodbury Gets a Zoning Board"
October 3, 2026
- Floor 13: the goat quest no longer hangs. Walk the goat back inside the town fence and the Mayor comes sprinting across town to thank you. No more standing in his office listening to the street-naming speech on loop while the clock runs out.
- Floor 13 in multiplayer: when a teammate beat the floor's headliner, the stairs stayed locked for everybody else. A kill now counts for the whole party.
- Can't find the goat? There's an emergency crank by the stairs now. Turn it twice and the stairs open, Snodbury is left to its fate, and you are a terrible person. Something from Snodbury will remember you a couple of floors down. It has horns now.
- Multiplayer: pets, Councilman Buttons and the goat stay with whoever tamed, summoned or found them. Walking past a teammate's pet no longer steals it. We were shocked how many of you tried.
v0.47.6 "Not Your Earthquake"
October 3, 2026
- Multiplayer in the 3D build: when a teammate walked into a wall, your Delver slid toward their wall and your camera lurched with it, even with screen shake off. Their face, their wall, their problem. Now only they wobble.
- 3D: a teammate's critical hits, explosions, secret doors and shocks no longer shake your screen, and the hit freeze on big blows obeys the Screen shake setting. Turn it off and the action never stutters.
- First person with Screen shake off: walking into a wall no longer jolts the view.
- The 2D game already kept its shakes to itself. We checked. Twice.
v0.47.5 "Turn Signals"
October 3, 2026
- Behind the scenes only. Nothing changes in this version of the game.
v0.47.4 "Large Print Edition"
October 2, 2026
- Three new size sliders in Settings, under Interface. Text size makes every word bigger: dialogue, the log, menus, all of it. Combat text size makes the floating "miss" and damage numbers up to two and a half times bigger, so you can watch your failures from across the room. Interface size grows the health bar, the top bar, the buttons, the side panels and the menus.
- They work in every version of the game, including the apps, multiplayer and the 3D build. Turn them all the way up and the message box starts scrolling, so the dungeon still has room to kill you.
v0.47.3 "Lights Down"
October 2, 2026
- Backstage fixes only. Nothing on this stage changed, so carry on.
v0.47.2 "Invite Only"
October 2, 2026
- The producers have raised the bar for their secret gift. Rumor says it takes ten runs, one survived on Hard Mode and a very deep dive into the Abyss. Nobody will confirm the rumor. Everybody is repeating it.
v0.47.1 "Colors Shown"
October 2, 2026
- Backstage fixes only. Nothing on this stage changed, so carry on.
v0.47.0 "Friendly Fire Not Included"
October 2, 2026
- PvP has come to multiplayer, in 2D and 3D. The host can switch a lobby from PvE (everyone against the dungeon, same as always) to PvP, then pick Free for all or Teams. In Teams, everyone picks Team A or Team B, and new arrivals land on the smaller team.
- Free for all: everyone starts as far apart as the floor allows. Teams: each team starts together, at opposite ends of the floor. Monsters still spawn and still want everyone dead, equally.
- Anything that hits a monster can hit an enemy Delver: swings, arrows, spells, bombs, abilities. Delver-on-Delver hits do half damage, and armor soaks some of that. There is no friendly fire, and no fighting in the Rest Stop.
- Going down works like it always has: your side can pull you up for 15 seconds. The enemy can't, and they can't heal you either, no matter how nicely you ask. The last team (or last Delver) standing wins the match.
- Everyone lands on each PvP floor with two Bear Traps. Only your side can see the ones you set, and an enemy who steps in one takes ten spike traps' worth of damage. It never finishes anyone off: the most it can do is leave them on 1 health for someone to finish the job.
- Enemies show up with a red name and health bar, and as red dots on the map, only while your side can see them. Pings only reach your own side.
- New setting under Controls: "Auto-attack prefers". With a monster and an enemy Delver both in reach, it decides which one the Attack button goes for. Monsters by default.
- PvP matches are for bragging rights only: no achievements, and they don't count toward your career.
v0.46.10 "Backstage Pass"
October 2, 2026
- The producers have started leaving gifts for Delvers who make it far enough down. Nobody will say what's in them. Legal has asked us to stop calling it a bribe.
v0.46.9 "Rabbit Ears"
October 2, 2026
- Two new switches in Settings, under Visuals: a Retro filter (chunkier pixels, a dithered palette, film grain and faint scanlines) and a CRT filter (a curved old TV with heavy scanlines, color fringing and dark corners). They stack. Both start off, because some of you like your dungeon crisp. Flip them on if you want the full late-night-reruns experience.
v0.46.8 "Point of View"
October 2, 2026
- Backstage fixes only. Nothing on this stage changed, so carry on.
v0.46.7 "Adjust Your Set"
October 2, 2026
- Backstage fixes only. Nothing on this stage changed, so carry on.
v0.46.6 "Field Report"
October 2, 2026
- Thank you to the Android player who sent us a full bug report, with screenshots. Here is everything in it, fixed.
- Phones: tapping the screen no longer leaves an invisible aim arrow behind. That stuck arrow made shots and spells refuse to fire at anything else, until you restarted the game. Tapping an enemy your shot or spell can reach now fires at it, instead of walking over first. When an aimed attack has nothing to hit, it says so in a pop-up.
- Bully now works on spells, on enemies frozen by Frost Ray, and on enemies stunned for one turn (a Big Swing crit). Executioner works on spells too.
- Stairs that sit in a doorway no longer swallow you. Walking onto open stairs now asks "Take the stairs" or "Not yet". Walking a path somewhere else just crosses them. Tapping the stairs themselves still takes you straight down. Waiting on the stairs asks again.
- Mayor Thimble, Archivist Nib and everyone else in town stop filling the message box once you say goodbye.
- Sound: after a phone call on Bluetooth headphones, the game's sound comes back. It also goes quiet in the background, as it was always supposed to.
- Phones held upright: long ability names no longer push the buttons off the screen. When they don't fit, Bag, Map and Info move to a second row.
- Phones held sideways: the game view is much bigger. The top bar, the buttons and the message box all got smaller to make room.
- Android: the Back button closes whatever is on top (a menu, the bag, the map, a conversation) before it ever leaves the game.
- Our producers would like to point out that the stairs were never "blocking" anything. They were "encouraging commitment." The producers have been asked to leave.
v0.46.5 "Stage Left"
October 2, 2026
- Backstage fixes only. Nothing on this stage changed, so carry on.
v0.46.4 "Eyes Front"
October 2, 2026
- Surrounded? The Attack button no longer stops to ask who you meant. It hits the enemy you are facing, or the one closest to where you are facing. If two are just as close, it goes for whoever is hurt worst, and if they are hurt the same, it picks one. Ratings love decisiveness.
- Tapping a particular enemy still hits that one, and mouse or right-stick aiming still wins over facing.
v0.46.3 "Previously On"
October 2, 2026
- The newest line of the log now sits at the top of the message box at all times. What you just picked up, what that mystery potion actually did, who just hit you: no more digging through the Log button to find out.
v0.46.2 "Wrong Thumb"
October 2, 2026
- For a few minutes the new phone joystick stopped the game from starting on computers, which have no thumbs to offer. Computers are back. We apologise to the mice.
v0.46.1 "Thumbs Up"
October 2, 2026
- Phones and tablets get a joystick. Hold it and push to walk, and keep holding to keep walking. Attack and your ability sit in the opposite corner, so one thumb walks and the other swings.
- Left-handed? Settings, Controls, Touch joystick: put the stick on the right and the buttons swap to the left. Prefer tapping where you want to go? Turn it off there, or tap the little arrow in the corner to put the stick away.
v0.46.0 "Read the Fine Print"
October 1, 2026
- Veterans of thirty finished runs may notice the print department has been busy. Something on the floor is glowing. It is just paper. It is very important paper. Read it.
- The producers deny everything else. There is no other version of this show. Stop asking.
v0.45.2 "Viewer Discretion Is Advised, Mildly"
October 1, 2026
- The first-visit "Adults only" wall is gone. In its place is a friendly heads-up: swearing, crude jokes, cartoon violence, not one for little kids. One tap and you're in.
- The FAQ, Legal, Privacy and Press pages say the same thing now (13+, matching the App Store).
- Legal asked us to sound less like a nightclub bouncer. We have retired the velvet rope. The bouncer has been asked to go stand somewhere else.
v0.45.1 "Hold the B"
October 1, 2026
- Test build: entering a certain famous code on a controller works now. B used to kick you back to the title halfway through. On that screen B and Start now do nothing, and A only presses buttons, so leave or start a run by moving onto the button with the D-pad and pressing A.
- Controllers whose D-pad acts like a stick count for the code too, on the race screen as well.
v0.45.0 "Behind the Drywall"
October 1, 2026
- Something new is hidden in the dungeon. It's well hidden, it takes more than one floor to find, and your host would like everyone to know it does not exist. We can't say more. Legal is looking at us.
- Speech bubbles with a lot to say now stay up long enough to read them.
v0.44.0 "One Take"
October 1, 2026
- Test build now plays just the one floor you pick. Take the stairs, die, or win, and the test is over. Then replay the same floor, try a fresh layout, or change your setup.
- New monster sliders in Test build: health, damage and how many show up, plus a switch that makes every monster fast. Want floor 1 with five times the rats? Sure. We don't judge. We film.
- Change the sliders from the TEST button mid-run and the floor starts over with the new settings.
v0.43.0 "Dress Rehearsal"
October 1, 2026
- New mode: Test build, in Other modes on the title screen. Pick your race, class, specialization, level and floor, raid the gear locker for anything you want, and see if your dream build actually works.
- It's a dress rehearsal, so nothing counts. No achievements, no career, no unlocks, no leaderboard. Your real run is left alone.
- Some things stay hidden backstage: secret races, secret classes, Legendary loot and the secret floors. Our legal team asks that you do not enter a certain famous cheat code on that screen. On a controller or a keyboard.
- The crew's backstage door from v0.42.0 is gone. The crew now has to use the same door as everyone else. They are taking it badly.
v0.42.0 "Crew Only"
October 1, 2026
- The production crew now has a backstage door for testing builds: any race, any class, any floor, any gear, no waiting. You can't find it. Please stop looking behind the vending machine.
- Nothing that happens back there counts. No achievements, no career, no leaderboard, no unlocks. The crew has been told this. The crew is upset.
v0.41.0 "Bring Friends, Lose Them"
October 1, 2026
- Endless Abyss is now a multiplayer mode. In the lobby, the host taps Switch to Endless Abyss, and the whole party goes down a dungeon with no bottom.
- Same rules as the solo Abyss: monsters get tougher every depth and it stacks, spells and weapon training have no cap, and there's a free Talent every 5 depths, now for everyone in the party.
- Everyone picks a class as soon as you land, and the specialization still opens at depth 9. The run ends when the whole party is dead, so don't be the reason.
- The Abyss has been informed it now has to feed eight people at once. It said this was fine. It is drooling.
v0.40.0 "All the Way Down"
October 1, 2026
- Multiplayer runs now go all 18 floors, through every zone, special floor and boss, just like a solo run. Floor 9 is no longer the finish line. It's the halfway point, and it was always lying to you.
- Multiplayer: the Green Room works now. Buy one from Old Brisket and its door shows up in every Rest Stop, for you only. Teammates who want one buy their own, and they can't see your door or walk into your stuff.
- In a party, the Mini Fridge and Hot Tub work once per floor for each owner, so your teammate's soak doesn't use up yours.
- Real estate in a death dungeon remains a seller's market.
v0.39.1 "Heavy Is the Head"
October 1, 2026
- The Bling Bling set can finally be worn. It needed three trinkets and you only have two trinket slots. The Crown of Clout now goes on your head, where crowns have always gone, so the Gold Chain and Ring of Swagger fit in the trinket slots.
- A crown you already have on as a trinket stays there. Take it off and it goes on your head from then on.
- Every other set was checked. They all fit. Our wardrobe department has been asked to count to two.
v0.39.0 "Save Point"
October 1, 2026
- Multiplayer runs now save. If the server restarts, or your connection drops, everyone lands right back in the same run with the same Delver, on the same tile, holding the same loot.
- Closed the tab? Phone died? Open Level Crawl in the same browser and tap Rejoin your party on the title screen to jump back into your character.
- If the whole party leaves, the run freezes: the floor clock, the monsters, even bleeding out all wait. Anyone from the party can pick it back up within a day.
- The network has promised to stop dropping you mid-swing. The network has promised many things.
v0.38.8 "Loot and Scoot"
October 1, 2026
- Multiplayer: opening a chest no longer throws a big window over the dungeon. Your loot shows up in a small strip at the bottom of the view that you can tap away, or that leaves on its own after a few seconds. You can keep walking and swinging the whole time, because the monsters certainly will.
- Solo runs keep the big, dramatic loot reveal. Nobody is trying to eat you while you admire it. Usually.
v0.38.7 "Click Means Click"
October 1, 2026
- Multiplayer: clicks on the bag, the item menu and the Info panel (stat points included) count the first time. The panels used to redraw while your finger or mouse button was still down, and the browser threw the click away. Now they wait until you let go.
- Multiplayer: pressing Use, Attack, your ability or a potion while your last move is still on its way to the server no longer does nothing. The press waits its turn and goes out right after.
- With Screen shake turned off, hits no longer freeze the screen for a split second either.
- Our buttons have been reminded that they are buttons. A click is a click. It is not a suggestion.
v0.38.6 "Hands Off"
October 1, 2026
- Multiplayer: your screen no longer jolts every time a teammate walks into a wall or a door. Their bump was nudging your own Delver, and the camera followed, so it looked like screen shake even with shake turned off. Now only whoever bumped into something wobbles.
- Multiplayer: a teammate's hit no longer freezes your animations for a beat. That dramatic pause is for your own blows now.
- Also fixed: a monster bumping into something no longer nudges you.
- Our camera operator has been reminded who they work for.
v0.38.5 "Personal Space"
October 1, 2026
- Multiplayer: screen shake only hits the Delver who's actually in the fight now. A teammate's big crit, bomb or secret wall across the map used to rattle everyone's screen. Your own hits, the hits you take and a collapsing floor still shake.
- Multiplayer: the class pick on floor 3 and the specialization on floor 9 now show the server's cards, the same fix Talents just got, so your pick can't be quietly thrown out.
- Your teammates' violence is now strictly their own business. Please stop filing complaints about vibrations.
v0.38.4 "Final Answer"
October 1, 2026
- Multiplayer: picking a Talent works now. Your game and the server used to roll different choices, so the server threw out your pick and the Talent menu popped right back up, over and over, which felt a lot like the game had frozen. Now the server rolls the choices and your game shows those exact ones.
- If you have more than one pick waiting, the next menu now waits until your first pick has actually landed.
- Our producers apologize for the endless loop of decisions. They have been there themselves. Every Monday.
v0.38.3 "Hold Still"
October 1, 2026
- Multiplayer: the race list in the lobby no longer snaps shut while you're picking. The lobby list used to refresh itself every few seconds right out from under you; now it waits until you're done.
- Multiplayer: the bag's item menu no longer flickers or disappears, and its buttons don't lose your click. The bag and the Info panel used to be rebuilt several times a second during a party run; now they only change when something in them actually changes.
- Our menus have been told to stop fidgeting. They were very sorry. They are still fidgeting a little, but only when you aren't looking.
v0.38.2 "Can You Hear Me Now"
October 1, 2026
- Multiplayer now shows everyone's ping, live, right next to their name in the party bar and the lobby. Yours is first, labeled You. Green is snappy, gold is fine, red means somebody is playing from a moving train.
- Now you can blame lag with evidence. The production team supports this. The production team also notes that most deaths are not lag.
v0.38.1 "Smooth Operator"
September 30, 2026
- Scrolling long menus like Achievements no longer stutters or tears, especially in the installed app window. The dungeon stops drawing itself behind a full-screen menu, since nobody can see it anyway, and picks up the moment you close the menu.
- The monsters were told to hold still while you browse. They did not listen, but at least now we aren't filming them.
v0.38.0 "Production Values"
September 30, 2026
- The network found some money in the couch. Your spells now light up the walls as they fly, and they burst in their own color when they land. Explosions flash and leave soot on the floor.
- Rare, Epic and Legendary loot now sends a column of light up from the floor, so you can spot the good stuff from across the room. Legendaries shine gold. Try to act surprised.
- When your health drops under a quarter, the edges of the screen pulse red with your heartbeat. It gets faster as you get closer to the end. We find it very exciting.
- Every Headliner now gets a proper entrance. The first time one comes into view, the camera swings over and a title card rolls. Tap or press any key to skip it. Nothing moves while it's up, because we're professionals. In multiplayer the show can't stop, so a big health bar sits across the top of the screen until the Headliner is dead.
- Taking the stairs now closes a circle down on you, like the end of a cartoon. The next floor opens the same way.
- When you die, the picture goes grey and a big red CANCELLED stamp lands on it. Thank you for your service.
- New in Settings: Broadcast mode. It adds scanlines, a rounded old TV screen and a blinking LIVE sign. It's off by default.
- New in Settings: Gore. Hits spray a little, kills leave a splat, and the floor keeps score for a couple of minutes. Skeletons leave bone dust, slimes leave goo and machines leak oil. It's off by default, for those of you with a lunch in front of you.
- Settings is now split into tabs: Sound, Visuals, Controls, Interface and Streaming. You no longer have to scroll past the controller options to find the volume.
- You can zoom out much further now. The zoom button steps out one level at a time and jumps back in after the farthest one. The minus and plus keys and the controller's zoom buttons step one level each way, pinching zooms step by step, and the mouse wheel zooms on the game view. It's great for multiplayer, where you'll want to watch your whole party panic at once.
- All of the new effects except Gore and Broadcast mode are part of Enhanced visuals. Turn that off and you get the classic look back.
v0.37.13 "We Have Someone Watching the Monitors"
September 30, 2026
- The game now checks every couple of seconds that the dungeon view is actually showing the dungeon. If it's gone black or lost track of you, it rebuilds the view by itself. It also sends us an anonymous note saying what broke, so we can fix the real cause. No names, no IDs, just "the camera fell over on floor 4."
v0.37.12 "There's the Door"
September 30, 2026
- Every full-screen menu now has a close button pinned to the top: Achievements, Career, the multiplayer lobby, the Daily and Endless pages, feedback, the big map and the rest. No more scrolling to the bottom to leave.
- Our exit signs are now up to code. The fire marshal remains unimpressed with everything else.
v0.37.11 "Let Sleeping Rats Lie"
September 30, 2026
- Sleeping monsters now have little z's drifting over their heads, in single player and multiplayer. They disappear the moment something wakes up.
- Mimics don't snore. They're too busy pretending to be furniture.
v0.37.10 "Have You Tried Turning It Off and On Again"
September 30, 2026
- Fixed: the dungeon view could go black while everything else kept working. Phones and some graphics cards quietly throw away a page's drawing when you switch apps or tabs, and the game never noticed. Now it notices and redraws the dungeon on its own.
- New button at the top of the game screen, next to zoom: the round arrow redraws the dungeon view if it ever looks wrong. Your run, your turn and your dignity all stay where they are.
v0.37.9 "Standards and Practices"
September 30, 2026
- Multiplayer names now go through the same filter as the Daily Dungeon board. Slurs and hate terms get swapped for "Delver" before anyone else sees them. Legal was very specific about this.
- The phone apps now show a plain version number on the title screen, ahead of their App Store debut. The website keeps its Alpha badge, because we're still honest people.
v0.37.8 "Lights Out, Band Out"
September 30, 2026
- The music now stops when you switch away from the game, put the app in the background or let your screen go to sleep, and picks up again when you come back. The house band was playing to an empty room and billing us for it.
- This covers the Android and iPhone apps as well as browser tabs.
v0.37.7 "Forgot My Keys, Be Right Back"
September 30, 2026
- Quit to title in the middle of a multiplayer run and the party keeps going without you, but your seat stays yours. The title screen now has Rejoin your party at the top of Multiplayer, and it drops you right back in. Play with friends does the same.
- While you're on the title screen, monsters treat you like you're reading a menu. Your party does not. Your party is judging you.
- Starting a solo run from the title leaves the party for good, so nobody waits on you.
v0.37.6 "Who Turned Off the Lights"
September 30, 2026
- Fixed: joining a multiplayer game could leave the game screen black until you refreshed. If the floor arrived twice while the game was still warming up, it tried to draw before it was ready and gave up. It now waits, then draws the newest floor. The lighting crew has been reminded that the show must go on.
v0.37.5 "No, Really, Call Me Jimbo"
September 30, 2026
- Fixed: the name you typed on the multiplayer screen didn't always stick. It went out when you left the box, and a phone can tap Join without ever leaving the box, so you showed up as the random name we picked for you. Your name now goes out as soon as you stop typing, and again before any join. Your name wins. We only named you Soggy Badger as a placeholder.
v0.37.4 "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem"
September 30, 2026
- New achievement: Shod. Put on shoes, any shoes. Winged Sneakers and Fireproof Boots both count.
- New achievement: Barefoot Champion. Win a full run without ever putting on shoes. The Daily Dungeon doesn't count.
- The cleaning crew has asked us to stop encouraging this. We have noted their concerns.
v0.37.3 "Exit, Stage Left"
September 30, 2026
- Settings now has a close button pinned to the top, so you can leave without scrolling all the way down.
- During a run, Settings also has a Quit to title button, at the top and next to Done.
- The producers note that quitting is always an option. They'd just prefer you didn't use it on camera.
v0.37.2 "Too Many of You Are Winning"
September 30, 2026
- Accounting flagged a problem: the survival numbers were embarrassing. For us. So from floor 7 down, monsters have noticeably more health, and everything past floor 3 hits a little harder. Our sponsors pay for carnage, not participation trophies.
- Bows and guns hit a bit softer. Standing across the room plinking at things with zero risk is not the show. Melee is unchanged, so you can still get up close and personal like a professional.
- Endless Abyss and multiplayer keep their old numbers. They already have their own ways of ruining your day.
v0.37.1 "Hello, My Name Is Not Delver"
September 30, 2026
- Fixed: typing a lobby code did nothing. The box ate every key except Enter, which is a bold choice for a box whose whole job is letters. Codes type normally now.
- Fixed: you couldn't change your name once you were in a lobby. You can now, in the lobby or mid-run, and everyone sees it.
- New Delvers get a random name like Soggy Badger instead of all showing up as "Delver". If two of you still pick the same name, the second one gets a number. Nobody has to fight over it.
- Friends who join a run already in progress now drop straight onto the floor the party is on, caught up to the party, instead of waiting for the next floor.
v0.37.0 "Your Call Is Important to Us"
September 30, 2026
- New button on the game screen: Leave feedback. It's the little speech bubble next to the gear. Tap it mid-run, pick Bug, Idea, Too hard / too easy or Other, and tell us what went wrong. Your report reaches the production team with your floor, race, class and game version stapled to it, so "the thing on floor 11 killed me" actually means something.
- It's anonymous. No name, no email, no account. We can't write back, but we can read, and we will. Mostly while laughing. Then fixing.
- Please don't use it to report the host. The host has reviewed the host and found no issues.
v0.36.0 "Bring a Friend (Liability Waiver Attached)"
September 30, 2026
- MULTIPLAYER. Up to 8 Delvers share one dungeon, in real time. Pick Play with friends on the title screen, then join any open lobby, start a public one, or start a private one and send the code to your friends. Friends can also join a run already in progress; they drop in at the start of the next floor.
- There are no turns. There is a clock. Floor 1 gets 10 minutes, and every floor after that gets 30 seconds less, down to 5 minutes. If the whole party reaches the stairs early, the leftover time carries over to the next floor. If the clock runs out, the floor collapses on anyone still standing on it. We call that "creative scheduling."
- Go down and you have 15 seconds for a teammate to pull you back up. Tap a teammate to heal them with a potion, a snack or a healing power. Teammates show as blue dots on your map. The Ping button is for yelling "LOOT!" without typing.
- Monsters give you a second to think. Nothing moves for the first 5 seconds of a floor. While you're in your bag, a shop or a menu, sleeping monsters won't notice you and anything already on you swings slower. The network lawyers insisted.
- New item: the Monster Radar. Every monster on the floor becomes a red dot on your map until you go down. In a party, everyone gets the dots. It works in single player too, for the paranoid.
- The title screen shuffled a little: the Daily Dungeon now sits at the top of Other modes.
v0.35.4 "Off the Plate, Buddy"
September 30, 2026
- Fixed: a pressure plate could spawn under a dog, a barrel or a wandering encounter. You couldn't step on it, so the stairs never opened. Nobody stands on the plates now. The dogs have been spoken to.
v0.35.3 "Get In Close"
September 30, 2026
- Melee weapons now hit 25% harder, and bows and guns hit 15% softer. In 10,000 test runs, 67 of the 71 wins were holding a bow or gun. Shooting things while they walk toward you is still smart. It just isn't the only smart thing anymore.
v0.35.2 "Expectations Adjusted"
September 30, 2026
- Underdog now gives +25% XP instead of +50%. Its Dark Horse specialization gives +10% more damage and +5% crit, down from +25% and +10%. In 10,000 test runs Dark Horses were winning about four times as often as everyone else. An underdog who wins every time isn't an underdog. It's a favorite with a sad backstory.
v0.35.1 "Gary Took a Pay Cut"
September 30, 2026
- Foreman Gary, the floor 3 Headliner, has 70 health instead of 90. He blows his whistle every 12 turns instead of every 9, and brings in at most 2 goblins instead of 3. After 10,000 test runs he'd killed more Delvers than anything else in the dungeon, which is a lot of pressure for a man in a hard hat. Floors 1 to 3 are supposed to be the friendly ones.
v0.35.0 "No Bottom"
September 30, 2026
- New mode: the Endless Abyss. The crew found a hole under the set. We dropped a camera down it and never heard it land, so we are dropping you next. There is no floor 18, no win and no bottom. Just a depth number and your pride.
- Monsters down there get 10% more health and 6% more damage every floor, and it stacks. By depth 30 they have sixteen times the health. We did the math. The math is also dead.
- The perk: in the Abyss your spells and weapon training have no level cap. Level 11, level 20, level whatever. Our lawyers could not get down there to write a cap.
- You skip the career fair. You start with a race and a class, picked from the last 8 builds you died or won with in the main show. Fewer than 8 on file? I filled in the rest myself. You're welcome.
- Every floor rolls its zone and layout at random, the odd floors (mazes, trains, gauntlets) show up far more often, and every 5 floors the Abyss hands you a free talent. You still specialize at depth 9.
- The Abyss keeps its own books: a best depth, your ten deepest dives on the Career screen, and six new achievements, including one for reaching a floor that the show says doesn't exist. None of it touches your main run, your career points or the main game's balance.
- The title screen got tidied up. New run (and Continue) stay front and center. Everything else is now one neat list: the Endless Abyss and the Daily Dungeon under Other modes, then Achievements, Career and Settings. Works with a controller too.
v0.34.0 "The Clock Is Always Running"
September 30, 2026
- Every run is now timed. The clock counts real play time and politely stops while you're in a menu, on a between-floors screen, or off in another app pretending you have a life.
- The end screen and share card show your run time. Win faster than ever before and you get a big gold NEW RECORD. Win slower and the card reminds everyone what your record is. We call that motivation.
- Your fastest win now sits on the Career screen, and every run in the recent list shows its time. Speedrunners, the network would love to watch you panic efficiently.
- Runs already in progress start their clock from this update, so they won't count as a fair record. Start fresh if you want the glory.
v0.33.3 "Overqualified"
September 30, 2026
- The level races moved up, because some of you are apparently hitting level 32. Ghouls now need level 20 and Hellspawn need level 30 (the browser still takes five off each).
- Drakelings now need level 40, in the browser too. Winning a run won't get you there. You'll have to kill nearly everything, stack every XP boost you can find, and maybe read a self-help book or two.
v0.33.2 "Open Casting Call"
September 30, 2026
- Five races now have to be found in the dungeon: the Minotaur, the Lizardfolk, the Fungoid, the Animatronic and the Mimicfolk. Every run, one of them is hiding somewhere between floors 10 and 17 (never the village). It's usually one you haven't found yet. Walk into them, say hello, and they unlock for good.
- Three races now unlock by reaching a character level instead: Ghouls at level 15, Hellspawn at 20 and Drakelings at 25. In the browser each one comes five levels sooner.
- Races you find carry over in your progress code like any other unlock.
- New achievement: Talent Scout, for signing a lost race. You are a casting agent now. The pay is worse.
v0.33.1 "Computer Says No"
September 30, 2026
- When something won't work, the game now tells you why, right on screen, in a red pop-up. Potions, crates, class powers, abilities, shops, the workbench, the storage box, all of it. Before, the reason went quietly into the log, where nobody reads anything. Including us.
- Greyed-out buttons are still pressable now. Press one and it explains itself. On a computer, hover for the same reason.
- The item menu warns you up front when something can't be used right now, and why.
- Mystery solved: if your healing potions stop working, check your pants. The Berserker Kilt forbids potions and snacks, it's cursed on until the next floor, and it now says so every time you try. Mana drinks and ammo were never affected. Its description now says "healing potions" instead of implying you can't drink anything at all.
- A recharging ability now tells you how many turns are left instead of doing nothing.
v0.33.0 "Read Your Own Obituary"
September 30, 2026
- The end screen now lists who you were when it happened: your race, your class and your specialization. If you died before floor 3, it says so. We don't judge. We do keep records.
- New run stats on the end screen: your hardest single hit and what landed it, your most used spell and how many times you cast it, damage dealt, damage taken, critical hits, your favorite victim, potions drunk, secrets found and turns survived.
- The share card now shows your build under the headline, plus your best hit and your top spell. Post it. Let the world see exactly how a Half-Orc Berserker lost to a rat.
- The copied share text carries your build and best hit too, for people who can't read pictures.
v0.32.1 "Hit It Till It Works"
September 30, 2026
- New: weapon training. Every weapon hit you land counts, and your training levels up to 10, just like spells do. Each level makes your weapon hit harder. Level 2 takes 24 hits, level 5 takes 240, and level 10 takes 1,080. Check your progress under Info.
- Weapon damage now also adds a little for your character level, so swords stop falling behind as you go deeper. Wizards had been laughing at the Barbarians. The Barbarians did not know why, but they did not like it.
- New per-floor soft cap on big hits. Past 15 plus 5 per floor (80 on floor 13), extra damage only counts a third. Stacked multipliers still feel great, they just don't delete Headliners in one poke anymore. This applies to melee and spells alike.
- Two new achievements: Muscle Memory (weapon training level 5) and Ten Thousand Hours (level 10).
v0.32.0 "The Monsters Unionized"
September 30, 2026
- From floor 7 down, the regulars bulk up much faster. By floor 13 they have about 40% more health than before, and by floor 17 over 50% more. Headliners stay as they were. They were already a lot.
- Some of them now come hopped up on something and take two steps for every one of yours. Others picked up a habit of throwing junk at you from 4 tiles away. Hover or look at a monster to see which is which.
- Anything that shoots now fires far more often once you're past floor 6. Standing in a doorway admiring the view is no longer a strategy.
- Spells grow more slowly: INT adds a bit less, and each spell level adds less. A maxed spell hits about half as hard as it used to. You were one-shotting yetis. The yetis filed a complaint.
- Tomes no longer lie around on the floor, and Brisket doesn't stock them. Now you find them in Silver, Gold and Mythic crates, the magic sponsor's box, Madame Vesper's shelf and the secret library.
- Floors 1 to 6 didn't change. The easy part stays easy. It's a trap.
v0.31.20 "Small Town Secrets"
September 30, 2026
- The Wand of Poultry now works on Snodbury's ordinary townsfolk. They become chickens. They keep their jobs. Do it to five of them for a new achievement. The Mayor, the shopkeepers and the goat are protected by local ordinance.
- The wishing well has a new option for the wealthy: toss in a thousand gold at once. Rumor says the well pays back big to anyone who feeds it enough. Rumor also says not to push your luck. Rumor is not responsible for what happens if you push your luck.
- One of the old gravestones by the pond is a little crooked. That's all we're saying.
- The host reminds viewers that no villagers were harmed in the making of this patch. Several were chickened.
v0.31.19 "Welcome Home, Forever"
September 30, 2026
- Brisket's Rest Stop franchise in Snodbury is now easy to find: a lit sign at the market, south of the well, and the welcome sign points the way.
- Your Green Room door now sits right next to Brisket's stall on floor 13, not in a far corner of town where only the goat could find it.
- Ask Brisket "What is this place?" and he'll tell you the truth about Snodbury. The villagers have never left. They don't know there is anywhere to leave to. They'd like you to stay for pie.
- The host would like to state that Snodbury is a happy place, and that the smiling is voluntary.
v0.31.18 "Home Improvement"
September 30, 2026
- Your bag has a new Workspace section under the bag buttons. It shows how much scrap you have and holds the workbench, Salvage junk and anything else scrap can buy. Tap the Workspace heading to fold it away when you don't want to think about crafts.
- Green Room owners can now spend 200 scrap at a Rest Stop workbench to renovate. The room goes from 4 decor spots to 8. There's a new achievement for it too.
- 200 scrap is a lot of scrap. That's on purpose. Real estate is expensive, even when the real estate is a closet in a murder dungeon.
v0.31.17 "One Delver's Trash"
September 30, 2026
- The bag has a new Mark junk button next to Sort. Press it, then tap items to mark or unmark them as junk, no menus required. Press Done when your conscience is clear.
- While you're in there, All common and All uncommon mark every piece of gear of that rarity as junk in one press, ready to sell or salvage in one go. The same two buttons also sit next to Junk when you tap a weapon, armor, hat or trinket.
- Favorites, Legendaries and anything already marked are left alone. Rare and Epic gear has to be junked by hand, because we respect your right to make bad decisions one at a time.
v0.31.16 "Pick Your Poison"
September 30, 2026
- The Quick potion button (controller or keyboard) can now drink the potion you choose: a regular, Big or Mega Health Potion, an Energy Drink, a Mana Drink, an Ammo Pouch, or a Mystery Potion if you like to live dangerously. Pick it under Settings, in Controller buttons or Keyboard keys.
- Pick nothing and it drinks your weakest health potion, like before. Run out of your pick and it does the same, and tells you.
v0.31.15 "Open for Business, Both Ways"
September 30, 2026
- Every shop in Snodbury now buys your stuff too. The armory, the general store, the oddities shop and the inn all pay exactly what Brisket pays. Turns out they had cash registers the whole time. Nobody asked.
- The Dealer on the Black Market buys as well, at the same rate. He says he's a criminal, not a monster.
- Vending machines now have a second slot marked WE BUY. We don't know where the items go. Neither does the machine.
- The Hall of Fame still does not buy anything. It is a museum. Stop trying to pawn your pants to the archivist.
v0.31.14 "Evelyn Wood Would Be Proud"
September 30, 2026
- Carrying more than one spell tome? The bag now has a Read all tomes button. It reads every tome you're holding, learning new spells and leveling up ones you know, all for a single turn.
- Tomes for spells that are already maxed out stay in your bag, so you can still sell them for a sandwich.
- Our legal team reminds you that speed reading a stack of forbidden magic is done at your own risk. Our legal team also cannot read.
v0.31.13 "Portion Control"
September 30, 2026
- A Fan Favorite's Heart now adds 1 max health instead of 6. It was a snack, not a meal plan.
- Legal would like to remind everyone that we never told you to eat it.
v0.31.12 "Musical Chairs"
September 30, 2026
- If you have both mana and ammo, they now trade places instead of one vanishing. Whatever your current attack uses sits in the bar under your health, and the other one waits in the little chip up top. Switch attacks and they swap.
v0.31.11 "Count Your Arrows"
September 30, 2026
- The bar under your health now follows the attack in your hand. Holding a bow or gun shows AMMO in orange; switch to a spell and it shows MANA again. Pure brawlers with no spells don't get a bar at all.
- Several archers ran dry mid-fight while staring at a full mana bar they couldn't use. We found it hilarious. Management made us fix it anyway.
v0.31.10 "Say My Name"
September 30, 2026
- The log now calls every race ability by its real name. Sucker Punch, Club, Chomp, Blood Rage, Shriek, Glitter Bomb and the rest no longer get announced as whatever the intern had on the cue card.
- Quick Draw takes 2 turns off your ability's cooldown the moment you pick it, not just from the next use. The Info panel now shows the cooldown with Quick Draw counted in.
- We apologize to every Sucker Punch that got introduced as a Haymaker. You were always the cheaper, meaner one.
v0.31.9 "Marie Kondo Was Unavailable"
September 30, 2026
- The Green Room storage box has a Sort box button. It puts things in the same order as the bag's Sort: healing first, then food, other consumables, gear, and crates last. Matching stacks join up while it's at it.
- We asked the box to sort itself for free. It agreed, which makes it the only thing down here that works for free.
v0.31.8 "Some Assembly Required"
September 30, 2026
- The Green Room storage box now takes and gives back part of a stack. Pick a stack, choose how many with minus, plus, 1, Half or All, then put that many in the box or take that many to your bag. It works with a tap, a click, a controller, or the minus and plus keys.
- Topping up a stack that's already in the box now works even when the box is full, since it doesn't need a new slot.
- Management had been refusing to open a fresh box of 12 potions for anyone who only wanted three. Management has been spoken to.
v0.31.7 "Mandatory Orientation"
September 30, 2026
- Floor 3 now starts in Brisket's Rest Stop, right next to the man himself. He has a speech about career day, and you're going to hear all of it.
- The speech covers how your class offer gets picked, how to get different ones, and why the next six floors decide what you're offered on floor 9. You can't walk off, open your bag or close it early. Press Go on (click, tap, Enter, Space or A) for each page, and the class pick comes up at the end.
- HR would like everyone to know that attendance is not optional.
v0.31.6 "Who's a Good Delver"
September 30, 2026
- Pets now step off the stairs right beside you on every new floor. They used to wander in somewhere in the starting room, and on the big floors that looked a lot like getting left behind. If the room was crowded they sometimes didn't make it at all. Every pet makes it now.
- A fed dog or a won-over cat that hasn't had its one fight yet comes down the stairs with you too, instead of staying behind to sulk.
- This covers carrier pets, charmed pets and every pet a multi-pet class is walking, on the stairs, through secret doors and into the village. Pets still get a little rest between floors.
v0.31.5 "Practice Makes Slightly Less Terrible"
September 30, 2026
- Spells level up a lot slower now. Level 2 takes 12 casts, level 5 takes 120, and level 10 takes 540. That's roughly an entire run of casting nothing else. Our wizards were maxing out Magic Missile before the first commercial break, and the insurance people noticed.
- Spell tomes are rarer. Fewer of them turn up in Mystery Crates, on the floor and in sponsor boxes. Brisket only stocks them on the deeper floors, and Madame Vesper keeps one on her shelf instead of two. Literacy is a privilege, not a right.
- Reading a tome you already know still ranks that spell up one level. It's just a much bigger deal now, so maybe don't sell it for a sandwich.
v0.31.4 "Members Only"
September 30, 2026
- The purple door that isn't on the map (the casino, the library, the black market) used to show up at random, and it welcomed everyone like they'd earned it. Security has been spoken to. Now it only appears after you find that floor's secret room or fake wall, and when you do, it's always waiting at the bottom of the stairs.
v0.31.3 "Qwerty Crawl"
September 30, 2026
- New: Settings > Keyboard keys. Every action can have two keys, and you can change any of them. Take a key from another action and we'll tell you who lost it. There's a Reset button for when you've made a mess.
- New default keys: I bag, C info, X auto-attack on/off, G auto-walk, P drink a potion (weakest first), V switch attack or spell, U full screen. Z still zooms, and minus and equals zoom out and in.
- The arrow keys, Enter, Escape and 1 to 9 keep their usual jobs no matter what you do. Some things are sacred.
v0.31.2 "Hands Off the Mouse"
September 30, 2026
- Fixed: with a mouse and a controller both plugged in, the aim arrow ignored the right stick. Your browser quietly sends pretend mouse movements whenever the screen changes under a pointer that's sitting still, and the game believed every one of them. Now the mouse only takes the aim back when you actually move it.
- New setting, Aim with: Auto (whatever you touched last), Mouse (the stick never aims) or Controller (the mouse never aims).
- Controller acting strange? Add
?padDebug to the address and a little box shows exactly what your controller is telling the game. Screenshot it and send it to us.
v0.31.1 "Twin Stick Energy"
September 30, 2026
- On a controller, the right stick attacks by itself now. Push it at an enemy and you swing (or shoot, or cast). Hold it and you keep going about three times a second until they stop being a problem. Push it at nothing and it just aims, no turn wasted.
- Prefer to aim, then press attack like a gentleperson? Untick Right stick attacks in Settings.
v0.31.0 "Welcome to Snodbury"
September 30, 2026
- Floor 13 is now a town. A whole town! Snodbury: population fourteen, plus a cat, a pig, several chickens and one extremely wanted goat. We built it out of every prop in the warehouse. Walk around. Touch things. Don't touch the pig.
- The townsfolk were built for Snodbury and have never been anywhere else. Ask them about the sky. Go on. Watch their little faces. They chat with each other, mutter to themselves and say hello when you walk by, and some of them have Opinions about "upstairs".
- Inside the fence the town runs in real time: people stroll, pets trot, gossip happens without you. The floor timer stops, and nothing in town will hurt you. Step out past the gate and it's turns and teeth again. Prefer turns in town too? Tap the LIVE town chip, or press T. It only works on floor 13, so don't ask.
- Shops you won't find anywhere else. Brunhilde's armory always has at least one full armor set (four new ones: Town Watch, Sunday Best, Salt of the Earth and Forge-Born), Mister Pennywhistle sells pies, cider, stew and cheese, and Madame Vesper sells whatever fell down the stairs.
- The Sleepy Wyrm inn: rent a room to sleep it off, buy a round for the whole bar, or ask Big Tam what the rumor is. The Hall of Fame keeps a record of everything you've done this run, whether you like it or not.
- The way down is out in the dangerous bit past the gate, and it's locked. Mayor Thimble will open it for you, right after you find his goat. The goat is a councilman. Nobody remembers voting for him.
- Eight new achievements, including a few I refuse to explain.
v0.30.1 "Budget Cuts"
September 30, 2026
- The Lighting switch is now Enhanced visuals, and it turns off everything from the last update in one go: lighting, breathing monsters, water ripples, the hit freeze, big crit numbers, panel frames and the drifting title screen. You get the classic flat look back, and your older phone gets to stop sweating. It's on by default, because we paid good money for it.
v0.30.0 "Mood Lighting"
September 30, 2026
- We finally paid the lighting guy. Torches glow, fires flicker, and the corners of every floor are dark enough to hide something that wants to eat you. Walls have fronts and tops now, so rooms look like rooms and not graph paper.
- Everyone gets a shadow. Even the things that shouldn't have one.
- The monsters are breathing. They always were. Now you can see it. Water ripples too, because the budget stretched that far.
- Hits land harder: a white flash, a split-second freeze as the blow connects, and crits get a huge gold number so the audience at home knows exactly how much that hurt.
- The Map and Info panels got proper dungeon frames that change color with each zone. Very classy. Very expensive.
- The title screen now drifts through a lit floor while you work up the nerve to press New run.
- Prefer the old, brighter look? Settings, then Enhanced visuals. I'll pretend I'm not hurt.
v0.29.6 "Guided Munitions"
September 30, 2026
- Bows, guns, spells, abilities and class powers now only go where the arrow points. Aim at nothing and nothing happens: no wasted arrow, no wasted mana, no wasted turn, just a note in the log telling you to point at an enemy. Swinging at the one enemy standing right next to you still works without aiming, because we're not animals.
v0.29.5 "Point and Stab"
September 30, 2026
- Aiming. A little gold arrow now sits next to you and points wherever your mouse is, or wherever you push the right stick. Press F (or your attack button) and you hit the enemy that way, no picking from a list. A gold box shows who is about to have a bad day. Abilities and class powers aim the same way, and Wall Smash goes through the wall you point at.
- Aiming doesn't turn you around. Under the Cheap Lighting contract your flashlight still points where you last walked or swung, so no free peeking.
- On a controller, the right stick aims now. The look cursor moved to the right stick click (Look in Settings > Controller buttons).
- Old-fashioned? Untick Aim with mouse / right stick in Settings. The arrow disappears, you pick every target yourself like it's a board game, and the right stick goes back to being the look cursor.
v0.29.4 "Six Floors of Job Interview"
September 30, 2026
- The three other classes you can jump to on floor 9 now follow the build you brought down: at least two love your best stat, your gear still pulls in the classes that use it, one can be a secret class, and each comes with the specialization that fits you best.
- Brisket now tells you on floor 3 to plan ahead: where your points go and what you carry over the next six floors decides the offers on floor 9. He added a fourth page to "How do classes work?" about it. Nobody listens. He knows.
- Secret classes now scale with depth. Being overleveled, underleveled, a speedrunner, rich, clumsy or beaten half to death means something different on floor 9 than on floor 3, so floor 9 no longer hands out the Prodigy to everyone.
v0.29.3 "Button Mashers Anonymous"
September 30, 2026
- Controller on a big screen: Bag and Info now jump the cursor straight into your inventory or your stats. They were opening a sidebar that was already open, which is a very convincing impression of doing nothing.
- The D-pad can be remapped. Give any direction an action in Settings > Controller buttons and it does that instead of walking. The left stick still walks, and menus still use the D-pad, because I'm not a monster (I employ them).
- Four new actions, with no button until you give them one: Auto-attack on/off (walking into an awake enemy swings at it), Auto-walk (explores until something interesting tries to eat you), Drink a potion (cheapest one first, you frugal little goblin) and Switch attack or spell.
- To take a button off an extra action, pick it and press its current button again. Auto-attack also has a checkbox in Settings for keyboard and mouse folks.
v0.29.2 "Ask the Bartender"
September 30, 2026
- Brisket finally read the memo. His floor 3 announcement no longer says the big pick moved to floor 9. Talk to him on floor 3 and he walks you through career day: why you got the classes you got, how to see different ones next run, and what happens on floor 9.
- From floor 3 on, you can ask him "How do classes work?" any time you are at the bar. He charges nothing for this. He wants that noted.
v0.29.1 "Read It Again"
September 30, 2026
- Found a tome for a spell you already know? Read it anyway. You study the fine print and the spell goes up a level on the spot. Once a spell hits level 10, the tome stays in your bag, so you can sell it to someone dumber.
v0.29.0 "Career Day, Rescheduled"
September 30, 2026
- You now pick your class when you reach floor 3, not when you hit level 3. Two whole floors of bad decisions go into your job interview: where your stat points went, what you are carrying and how you behaved. Specializing moved the same way, to floor 9. Management apologizes for the confusion. Management does not mean it.
- What is in your bag now counts. Carrying a bow? The Sniper is more likely to show up. A pile of pipe bombs? Say hello to the Pyro and the Tinkerer. Heavy armor, spell tomes, pets, snacks, a fat wallet, knives or bare fists all pull in the classes that use them.
- The secret classes were rewritten for floor 3. The Underdog is for Delvers who arrive still level 3 or lower, the Prodigy for level 7 or higher, and the Speedrunner for making it down in under 300 turns. The Untouchable and the Masochist now count damage from every floor so far, not just the one you're on. A few others need a little more than before, since you've had two big floors to earn them.
- No classes in the Daily Dungeon. It's one floor. Nobody is hiring.
v0.28.1 "Fold It Like a Map"
September 30, 2026
- Every section of the sidebar folds up now: the map, your stats, gear, ability, race and class, sponsors, hype, bounties, enemies in view, all of it. Tap or click a header to fold it, again to open it, or press A on it with a controller. The game remembers what you folded. Sections waiting on you to pick something stay open, because I know you.
v0.28.0 "The Sprawl"
September 30, 2026
- Floors 1 and 2 are now enormous. Four times the size, way too big to see all of it before the clock runs out. Don't try. Your map only shows the area around you, because our cartographer quit. There are several staircases down, tucked into the corners of far-off rooms, and they are open from the start. The Headliner is still out there if you want the prize. Optional. Like flossing.
- The big floors have 3 or 4 Rest Stops, spread out so you never see two at once. Each has a bed and a campfire. Brisket only works one of them. He is one man.
- New floor types show up deeper down:
- The Night Train: fight your way up eight cars to the engine, where the Conductor waits with a whistle and a grudge. Kill him to earn We Don't Get This Train Either.
- The Maze: our set designer had a breakdown. The stairs are in there somewhere.
- The Gauntlet: one road, no shortcuts, a lot more monsters.
- And sometimes The Sprawl again, just to mess with you.
- The website now locks races too. Humans start open and the rest unlock by playing, same as the app, only faster, because browsers forget things. Your Career screen has a progress code. Copy it, type it into another browser or the app, and your unlocked races come with you. It works both ways, and a code can only ever add unlocks.
- Got a controller? Try something classic on the race screen. Up, up, down, down... you know the rest. The host is furious about it.
- Five new achievements to go with all of that.
v0.27.4 "Hands Off"
September 30, 2026
- New switch in Settings: Controller, on or off. Off and the game ignores every controller plugged in, so a misbehaving one can't boss you around. Flip it with the mouse or a tap.
- Moving your mouse now beats the controller's sticks. The look cursor gets out of the way and the sticks stay quiet until you actually push one again, so hovering over your bounties and hype stays put.
v0.27.3 "Stop Looking Up"
September 30, 2026
- Hotfix: on some PCs a controller's cursor floated to the top of the screen and stayed there, like someone was sitting on the stick. Some controllers show up twice, and some report their triggers as a stick that's always pushed. The game now picks the right one, ignores anything that's pushed before you touch it, and shrugs off a bit of stick drift. Your thumbs are free again.
v0.27.2 "See You Downstairs"
September 30, 2026
- Clean up floor 15 and the very special someone now waits for you in the first room of floor 16 instead of popping out of a bin. That way, if you're foolish enough to annoy him, his rocket launcher still has three floors of use left in it. Not that I'm encouraging anything.
v0.27.1 "Clean Up on Aisle 15"
September 30, 2026
- Floor 15 is now absolutely filthy. Bottles, fish bones, moldy cheese, floppy disks. My cleaning crew quit. If some saint picked up every last bit of it, I hear someone very special would show up to say thanks.
- That someone loves presents. Hugs, speeches, the occasional gift back, and now and then something from his personal collection that you cannot get anywhere else.
- He also has a rocket launcher and very strong feelings about junk. Four new achievements for the brave, the kind and the extremely stupid.
v0.27.0 "Who Are You, Really?"
September 30, 2026
- You no longer pick a class at the door. You pick a race: 19 of them, from Human, Elf and Dwarf to things our casting department won't let me explain, like the Raccoonfolk, the Slime, the Fungoid, the Animatronic and the Mimicfolk. Every race has its own stats, perk, catch and signature move. In the app, Humans start unlocked and the rest unlock as you play. The website stays fully open because I am generous and legal made me.
- At level 3 I offer you a job. You get 8 choices out of 69 classes, picked from your race, how you spent your stat points, what's in your bag and how you've been behaving. Didn't kill anything? There's a class for that. Petted three animals? There's a class for that. Walked into walls twenty times? Believe it or not, class for that. Humans get a ninth option, because they complain the loudest.
- Most classes come with a power on its own button (R on a keyboard, L3 on a controller) with charges that refill each floor. Teleport anywhere you've seen five times a floor. Stop time around you. Smash through a wall to the next room. Dress up as a monster and walk right past its friends. Keep a whole zoo of pets. Rewind the last few turns. There are 26 kinds and I've personally approved every one for maximum property damage.
- At level 9 you specialize: pick one of your class's 2 or 3 subclasses, or quit your job on the spot and take one of three other classes, already fully specialized. Midlife crisis, now in game form.
- Spells level up when you use them. Cast Magic Missile enough and it keeps up with that shiny axe you can't lift. Each spell goes up to level 10 and shows its progress in your spell list. Mana cost stays the same, so the more you cast, the better the deal.
- You also earn a little XP for poking your head into new rooms and for clearing the first three floors, so you'll meet your new employer on time.
- To make up for all this new power, monsters from floor 4 down hit a bit harder and take a bit longer to die. You're welcome.
- About 30 new achievements, including a win for every race and a few for doing crimes with your class power.
- Because the whole character system changed, runs in progress from older versions are reset. Your career, achievements and unlocks are all still there.
v0.26.3 "That's a G, Not a 6"
September 30, 2026
- The little g after every price is now bold and gold, in shops, sell buttons and your gold counter. A Delver paid 1,266 gold for something they thought cost 12,666 and felt great about the bargain. Accounting has asked me to stop letting that happen.
v0.26.2 "Seen It, Thanks"
September 30, 2026
- Controller players can finally shut me up. When B has nothing else to close, it clears the achievement pop-ups off your screen. I worked hard on those quips, but fine.
v0.26.1 "Hello, My Name Is"
September 30, 2026
- The New name button got 36 new names, hand-picked by your host after legal left for the day. Say hello to Gary From HR, Discount Dracula, Reply-All Rhonda, Sir Farts-a-Lot and Hugh Jass. Your mother would be so proud.
v0.26.0 "Couch Co-Op With Yourself"
September 30, 2026
- The Map button on a controller now opens a big full-screen map. Steer the cursor with either stick or the D-pad, press A to walk there, B to close. On a keyboard, M does the same. Tapping the big map works too.
- The right stick is now a look cursor. Point it at a monster, a chest or a suspicious puddle and the info pops up, same as hovering a mouse. Press A to walk there, attack it or talk to it. B puts it away.
- Pick a controller layout in Settings, Controller buttons: Standard, Fighter (A punches) or Triggers (right trigger attacks, left trigger for your ability). You can still set every button yourself.
- Every menu, from the moment the game loads, now works on a controller: the right stick and D-pad scroll long pages like Achievements, left and right move sliders like Volume, menus start on the first thing worth pressing, and there's a New name button on the Delver screen so you never have to type.
v0.25.2 "Press Any Button"
September 30, 2026
- Controller players can finally drink their own potions. Picking an item in the bag with a controller now lets you reach Use, Equip and the rest. B closes it. Hydration is a human right, even down here.
- Xbox controllers paired over Bluetooth were showing PlayStation buttons. They know who they are now. Identity crisis resolved.
- New in Settings: Controller buttons. Pick any action, press the button you want, done. Take a button that's already in use and the two actions swap. The D-pad stays on moving. Reset to default if you make a mess.
- New achievement: IS THAT YOU ASHLEY? Earned by running into a problem you didn't know could exist. Like a barrel killing you. It was always going to be the barrel.
v0.25.1 "Show Me What's Inside"
September 30, 2026
- Headliner prize boxes no longer get dumped on the floor for you to squint at. When a Headliner drops, the three boxes pop up with their lids open and everything inside on display. Pick one. You can't walk away until you do. The audience wants to see you choose, and so do the lawyers.
v0.25.0 "Budget Cuts"
September 29, 2026
- Magic now runs on mana. No more waiting for spells to "recharge" like a phone from 2009. Every cast costs mana, and the harder a spell hits, the more it costs. INT makes your pool bigger, it trickles back slowly, and beds top it off. Run dry and you swing your staff like an animal.
- Bows and guns now use ammo instead of pausing to reload. You shoot every single turn until you run out. DEX lets you carry more. Out of ammo, you club things with your very expensive bow.
- Monsters now drop Mana Drinks and Ammo Pouches, but only if you actually use them. Fan Favorites and Headliners always do. Brisket stocks both, at a markup, obviously.
- The Wizard now starts with Magic Missile and the Hedge Witch with Acid Splash. The Rogue packs a Crossbow next to the knife. Welcome to the ranged division.
- Contracts got rewritten, and they mean it now. Glass Jaw halves your health. Cheap Lighting means you only see what's in front of you, and not as far. Overbooked doubles the monsters. Tight Schedule halves the clock. Broke makes Brisket charge you triple. Fan Club doubles the Fan Favorites and cuts your XP by a quarter. Insomnia means beds (and the hot tub, and the between-floors breather) heal nothing: potions and food only.
- Every contract you sign pays +10% gold and +10% XP. Sign all of them and Mythic Crates drop four times as often. You will not survive long enough to open them. Prove me wrong.
- The Delver list now runs in the order the app unlocks them.
- Cracked walls no longer hide in places you can't reach. If a secret room can't be reached, it's bricked up for good. The contractor has been fired. Again.
- The minimap legend no longer strands "Enemy" on a line without its color, and the host now points you to the purple box at the top when he talks about bounties, instead of a "TV chip" nobody could find.
- Fixed a Coin Shot bug where being broke meant you could not attack at all. Now being broke just means swinging your weapon. Like the rest of us.
v0.24.1 "Inflation"
September 29, 2026
- Brisket looked at his books and nearly fell off his stool. Everybody's rich. That ends now.
- A Green Room now costs 1,500 gold (was 600). Property values in the dungeon are through the roof. So is the roof.
- Your first Bigger Backpack costs 250 gold on floor 1 (was 120), and every one after still costs double the last.
- Everything else Brisket sells, the vending machines and the Mystery Crates cost about 50% more.
- Gold piles and monster drops pay out 20% less, and Brisket now pays a quarter of an item's value when you sell it (was 30%). The economy is fine. Please stop asking about the economy.
v0.24.0 "Career Day"
September 29, 2026
- Every run counts now. The new Career screen on the title menu adds up your lifetime points, runs, wins, deepest floor and kills, plus your favorite Delver, the monsters that keep killing you, and your recent runs. On the website it lives in your browser, so maybe don't clear that.
- In the phone apps, you have to earn your cast. You start with the Brawler and the Wizard, and the rest join as you go: finish a run, reach floor 5, play five runs, and so on. The host drops a hint on every locked card. He's very helpful. He's being paid to be.
- Also in the apps: Fame ranks. Lifetime points take you from Nobody to Legend, with outfit colors, Green Room decor that does absolutely nothing, a starting pet, and a secret ninth Delver at the very top. None of it makes you stronger. The dungeon is still hard. We checked.
- The apps now back up your career to your iCloud Keychain on iPhone and your Google backup on Android, so a new phone doesn't mean a new nobody.
- The website keeps every Delver unlocked, same as always.
v0.23.0 "Renewed for Another Season"
September 29, 2026
- Every floor is now an episode. Blackout (lights out, you see three tiles), Speed Round (a shorter clock, double the gold), Glass Cannon Night, Monster Mash, Flood Night, Sweeps Week and more. The TV chip at the top tells you what you're in tonight. Nobody asked the network. The network is thrilled.
- Four special events that break the rules: the Arena (five waves, no hiding), the Heist (rob the vault, then the alarm goes off), the Escape (no Headliner, the floor falls apart behind you) and the Game Show (three doors: one prize, one zonk, one trapdoor).
- Sometimes the stairs split and you pick the next floor's episode yourself. And sometimes there's a door that isn't on the map: a casino, a library of unlabeled tomes, or a black market. We don't talk about those. You didn't see them.
- Room encounters: a wounded Delver (heal, rob or ignore; they remember), a Card Shark, a Cursed Fountain and an Altar of Bad Deals. Choices have consequences. Mostly bad ones. Great television.
- Grudges carry over. Whatever killed your last Delver gets promoted to Nemesis, a title and a red crown, and waits for you on the floor where it happened. Your old body is there too, with half your gold. Go get it back.
- Host bounties: every floor comes with one or two side jobs (kill a Fan Favorite, find the lost camera, beat the Headliner without getting hurt much) that pay a crate each.
- The dungeon has physics now. Walk into a monster to shove it into a pit, a fire or a spike trap. Roll explosive barrels. Fire spreads through cobwebs and mushrooms, water carries lightning to everyone standing in it, and frost freezes the whole puddle. Mind your feet.
- Contracts: before a run, sign up for extra misery (Glass Jaw, Cheap Lighting, Overbooked, Tight Schedule and friends). Each one adds 10% gold, and three or more make fan crates bigger. The Daily Dungeon doesn't care about any of this and stays exactly as it was.
- 31 new achievements to go with all of it.
v0.22.0 "Budget Cuts"
September 29, 2026
- Accounting noticed how much free stuff was lying on the floor. There's a lot less of it now, and nothing waits in the room you wake up in except one pity potion.
- From floor 4 down, plain white gear is gone. It's either got some sparkle on it or it's already been broken down into scrap. Monsters also drop scrap now, like coins. Stuff it in your pockets.
- The workbench has its own catalog. Eight inventions you can't find, buy or win: the Molotov Cocktail, Bag of Caltrops, Stink Bomb, Cluster Bomb, Welding Mask, Spiked Hand Wraps, Duct Tape Armor and the Scrap Repeater. They're marked with a star, and anything you build comes out enchanted.
- Brisket's shop now stocks things only Brisket sells (Brisket's Brisket Sandwich, the Box of Scrap), and elite monsters sometimes drop a heart that only they carry.
- Dungeon Dogs will work for food. Toss a snack near one and it follows you until it finds a monster, then ends that monster. Very lethal. One job per snack, then it goes back to being a good boy.
- Skeleton Cats don't want to fight you. Walk up without swinging, walk away, come back. Do it three times and it's yours, for exactly one pounce.
- Two new ways the stairs get sealed: Extermination (every monster on the floor has to die; the last few will come find you) and a stone block you have to shove along its rail into a slot. The writers were on strike.
- Rest Stops glow now, with a little house over the door, so you can find them when you're zoomed out and panicking.
- On floor 1 you'll find a note from your agent. Yes, you have an agent. They'd like to explain the audience. They do not explain it well.
v0.21.2 "Rewrites"
September 29, 2026
- The writers' room got notes. A couple dozen lines of host chatter, monster descriptions and achievement quips were rewritten. Same filthy mouth, fresh material.
- Old Brisket's backstory got a polish. He still lost the leg. He'd like you to stop asking about the leg.
v0.21.1 "Amnesia"
September 29, 2026
- New intro on the title screen. How did you end up here? The producers have decided that's not important. Please stop asking.
v0.21.0 "Midlife Crisis"
September 29, 2026
- Halfway there! On floor 9 every Delver now picks a new race and a new class. Thirteen races, twenty classes, and every one comes with a perk and a catch. Goblins get deeper pockets, Ogres get smaller ones, Slimes can't keep their armor on. You keep your old ability.
- The classes you're offered depend on where your stat points went. Weird builds unlock ten hidden classes: pour everything into STR and meet the Meathead (hits like a bus, can't read). Show up with an empty bag, a zoo of pet carriers, a fortune in gold, or no pants, and see who the dungeon thinks you are.
- Brisket gets on the PA on floor 3 to announce the race pick. He had the date wrong. He is very sorry. He is not sorry.
- Junk is worth something now. Salvage anything in your bag into scrap (one button for everything marked Junk), then use the workbench in any Rest Stop to make bombs, knives, potions, flashbangs, hourglasses and the brand new Bear Trap.
- Ghost Delvers: on some floors from 5 down, the ghost of a Delver who didn't make it drifts from room to room, never sleeps, and hits like a truck. If you died last run, it might be you. Beat it for a crate one tier above the floor.
- Bows and most guns now need a turn to reload between shots. Machine guns don't, which is the whole point of machine guns.
- Spells now cast a few times in a row and then recharge (Magic Missile: 3 casts, 3 turns). You swing your weapon while one recharges. Tomes and the Info panel tell you each spell's rhythm, and the Attack button shows your casts left.
- The audience has a face now. It sits next to your Hype: a green grin when you're putting on a show, a red frown when you're getting beaten up, and a bored grey stare when you stand around.
- Tap anywhere you've explored on the map and your Delver walks there. They stop if something awake shows up, because we are not monsters. Well. Some of us are.
- Ten new achievements.
v0.20.4 "Casting Call"
September 29, 2026
- Level Crawl is coming to Android, and Google wants 12 testers first. If you play on an Android phone, you'll see a casting call on the title and death screens. It takes two taps: see the new Android Beta page. Tap the x to hide it for good.
- New Press Kit page with a fact sheet, clips and screenshots, for anyone who wants to write about the dungeon. Flattering coverage preferred. Accurate coverage tolerated.
v0.20.3 "Declutter"
September 29, 2026
- Much less junk on the early floors. Floor loot is now 40% of the old amount on floor 1, 50% on floor 2, 60% on floor 3, and 80% from there on.
- Fan crates come less often: regular kills and achievements are worth less Hype. Headliners, Fan Favorites and Guest Stars are unchanged.
- The hardest part of floor 1 should now be the dungeon, not your backpack.
v0.20.2 "A Little Mercy"
September 29, 2026
- Early floors are still mostly plain gear, but now there's always a tiny chance of a Rare or even an Epic, even on floor 1. Uncommons are a little less rare early on too.
- Mythic Prize Crates stay Mythic on every floor. Only Copper, Silver and Gold achievement crates are capped by depth.
- Eased things back a bit after v0.20: you start with 3 potions instead of 2, and monsters scale up a little more gently with depth.
- Your pet now wears a proper red heart instead of something that looked more like a locket.
v0.20.1 "Fine Print"
September 29, 2026
- The title screen is tidier: the fan-game disclaimer now lives on the FAQ and Legal pages instead of the main menu.
- In the phone apps, the art credit moved from the main menu to the bottom of Settings.
v0.20.0 "Series Finale"
September 29, 2026
- Loot gets better as you go deeper. On floor 1 almost everything is plain gear. Uncommon (green) gear gets steadily more common as you descend, Rares (blue) start turning up around floor 3, and Epics (purple) around floor 7. Fan Favorites, secret rooms and Prize Crates still roll a little better than the floor you're on.
- Achievement Prize Crates now match your depth too: at most one tier better than the crates the zone you're in gives out. No more Gold crates on floor 1.
- The Showrunner finale now has three acts. At two thirds health he tears up the script for Season Two and extras pour in faster. At one third it's the Series Finale: the stage catches fire and he hits harder. He changes color with each act, so you'll know. To make room for all that drama, he starts with a bit less health.
- To make up for plainer early gear, monsters get tougher a little more slowly the deeper you go, and floor 3's Rest Stop keeps a spare potion too.
v0.19.0 "Don't Touch That Dial"
September 29, 2026
- The Hype meter now takes 100 to fill instead of 60, and Charisma boosts it a little less. Fans are pickier about who gets a Prize Crate.
- Standing still for more than 8 turns bores the audience. The Hype meter drains a point a turn until you do something. The Hype you've earned in total (for achievements and the Daily score) never drains, just your progress toward the next crate.
- To keep the first floors fair with fewer early crates, floor 2's Rest Stop also keeps a spare potion now, and Mama Longlegs lays her eggs a little less often.
v0.18.0 "Not From Around Here"
September 29, 2026
- Faraway items. Things keep falling into the dungeon from other worlds, and our legal team has stopped asking where. Look for them in Mythic (and sometimes Gold) Prize Crates:
- Fairy in a Bottle: keep her in your bag. The first time you would die, she heals you to full instead. Then she is gone.
- Bouncy Star: 12 turns of monsters bouncing off you while you hit three times as hard. You will hear music. Nobody else will.
- Heart Container: +10 max health for the rest of the run.
- Power Pellet: everything you can see turns blue, freezes and takes double damage for 5 turns.
- Catch Sphere: any monster that isn't a Headliner becomes your pet, whatever its level.
- Big Friendly Gun: shoots 5 tiles and ignores armor. It is not friendly.
- Nobody fights the dogs anymore. Hellhounds and Frost Wolves have left the monster lineup. Friendly dogs now show up on some floors instead. Walk into one to pet it and heal a little. Floor 15's Headliner is now the Dogcatcher, who has locked every good dog in a cage. You know what to do.
- Pet swaps. Opening a new pet carrier while a carrier pet is out puts the old one back in its carrier, so you can swap back any time. A monster you charmed doesn't wander off anymore when replaced. It remembers what it is and turns on you.
- The Green Room door now goes in the far corner of the Rest Stop, away from Old Brisket and the bed.
- The hover info box is slightly see-through, with an opacity slider in Settings.
- Fixed: a Glacier Crab could turn invisible after charging. Its picture was left behind where the charge started. It also has a clearer sprite now.
v0.17.2 "Which Duck Is Mine"
September 29, 2026
- Your pet now wears a little pink heart, and its health bar is green instead of red. Several pets share a look with the wild locals, and a few Delvers were earnestly trying to fight their own duck.
- Mutant Ducks are now a sicklier shade of green-yellow, so they no longer look exactly like Gerald. Gerald is relieved. The Mutant Ducks have not been consulted.
v0.17.1 "Gerald Is Not Immortal"
September 29, 2026
- Fixed: pets could never be hurt. Monsters simply ignored them, which made Gerald the Emotional Support Duck the toughest thing in the dungeon. Monsters now bite your pet when it's the only thing in reach, and sometimes go for it even when you're right there.
- A pet that gets knocked out is carried off by the stagehands. If it came from a carrier and you own a Green Room with space in the storage box, it gets carried home to recover instead, back at half health.
- Pets still heal up between floors, and the Pet Parent Talent still patches them up as they follow you.
- Gerald has asked us to share that he was never immortal. He was just very, very emotionally supported.
v0.17.0 "One Delver's Trash"
September 29, 2026
- Favorites. Tap an item in your bag and press Favorite. It gets a little gold dot, and Brisket can't buy it, so you'll never sell your good sword by accident.
- Junk. Mark items as Junk and they fade out with a red line through them. At Brisket's, "Sell all junk" sells the lot in one go, and it's in the bag too whenever you're at a Rest Stop.
- Sorting your bag puts junk at the bottom.
- Marks show in the Green Room storage box too.
- The host notes that one Delver's junk is another Delver's weapon. That Delver usually dies.
v0.16.1 "Stop Hugging, You're Different People"
September 29, 2026
- Fixed: gear with different enchantments piled into one stack, so you couldn't pick the one you wanted. Gear now only stacks when it's exactly the same item with the same enchantments, in your bag and in the Green Room.
- Bigger bags. Backpacks now take you up to 45 slots instead of 30, and Brisket keeps selling them until you get there.
- Bigger storage box. The Green Room storage box holds 45 things now.
- The host would like to apologize to every Flaming Crowbar of Poor Decisions that was forced to share a bunk with a regular crowbar.
v0.16.0 "Supply Chain Issues"
September 29, 2026
- Loot is scarcer. Floor 1 has half as much lying around, and every floor after it has 10% less than before. Fan Favorites don't always drop something anymore. Every sword you find should feel like a small miracle.
- Fewer free crates. Easy achievements (first kill, first crate, reaching the Catacombs, beating each Headliner and so on) no longer hand out a Prize Crate. The hard ones still do. Headliners still leave their row of prize boxes.
- The Green Room costs 600 gold now. Property values in the apocalypse are, somehow, going up.
- To keep floor 1 fair, the Rest Stop there has a spare potion, and Rat King Randall has a little less health and bite.
- The host reminds you that scarcity builds character. So does dying.
v0.15.0 "Dress for the Job You Want"
September 29, 2026
- You look like what you wear. Put on a helmet and you look like a knight. Add real armor and you look like a whole knight. A Wizard Hood makes you a hooded weirdo, a Top Hat makes you a gentleman, and the Mascot Costume and Bomb Suit make you exactly what you think.
- Your weapon is in your hand on the map now, so everyone can see you brought a Nail Bat to a dragon fight.
- Your portrait in the Info panel matches your outfit too.
- The host's fashion notes: "Bold. Brave. Covered in blood. Ten out of ten."
v0.14.0 "Under New Architecture"
September 29, 2026
- Floors have layouts now. Each floor picks one of three: the classic mix, a few big halls with wide corridors, or a warren of tiny rooms and tight turns. Which ones you get depends on the zone.
- Rooms have shapes. Pillared halls, rooms with a pit in the middle (cross on the bridges), L-shaped rooms, rooms with the corners knocked out, oval ice caverns and ragged mushroom caves. Each zone has its favorites, so the Fungal Caverns feel like caves and the Catacombs feel like a crypt.
- The start room, the Rest Stop and the Headliner's room stay plain rectangles. The Headliner likes a clean stage.
- The Daily Dungeon keeps its classic layouts, so today's map is the same for everyone.
- Monsters deep down hit a touch softer again, since the new layouts gave them plenty of corners to ambush you from.
- The host would like to thank the construction crew, none of whom survived.
v0.13.0 "A Room of One's Own"
September 29, 2026
- The Green Room. Old Brisket now rents out a private room for 300 gold (600 since v0.16) (less if you're charming). Once it's yours, a green door appears in every Rest Stop for the rest of the run. Walk into it to go in.
- Storage box. Your first visit comes with a storage box that holds 30 more things. Stash the stuff you can't carry and pick it up from any Rest Stop further down.
- Decor. 13 pieces of Green Room decor now turn up in the dungeon and in Prize Crates. Put up to 4 on display and they work wherever you are: a Self-Help Bookshelf for XP, a Comfy Armchair for health, a Solid Gold Toilet for gold, a Mini Fridge that restocks every floor, a Hot Tub that heals you once per floor, a Framed Floor Plan that marks the stairs, and more.
- Pet corner. Pets from carriers can live in your Green Room. Leave one at home, bring another along, or swap them. Letting a new pet out of a carrier now sends your old one home instead of off to start a podcast. Monsters you charm with the flute are too feral to live indoors.
- 5 new achievements, including one for the Ugly Vase, which does absolutely nothing.
- The host would like to remind homeowners that the Network retains the right to film inside your Green Room at all times. Especially the Hot Tub.
v0.12.0 "Spellcasting for Dummies"
September 29, 2026
- Spells. Find a Tome and read it to learn one of 8 spells: Magic Missile, Fire Bolt, Frost Ray, Chain Lightning, Life Drain, Acid Splash, Thunderclap and Coin Shot (it shoots your gold at people). A learned spell replaces your basic attack, so you cast it from range with the Attack button. Switch between your weapon and your spells any time in the Info panel. Spell damage grows with INT and level, so Wizards and Witches finally get to be smug.
- 12 new monsters with new tricks. Pickpocket Goblins and Tax Auditors steal your gold and run (catch them to get it back). Bomb Beetles and Angry Puffballs light a fuse next to you and explode a turn later, so back off. Crypt Weavers and Frost Witches pin you in place. Blink Shades and Paparazzi teleport right next to you. Rushing Line Cooks and Glacier Crabs charge down straight lines. Flambe Imps set the floor under you on fire, and Swamp Trolls heal every turn unless they're standing in fire.
- Press and hold (or hover) a monster to see its tricks.
- 5 new achievements for books, spells, Thunderclap and catching thieves.
- Monsters from floor 4 down hit a little harder, to make up for Delvers who can now throw lightning.
- The host notes that Coin Shot is the first spell in history to be funded by its victims.
v0.11.0 "Special Skills, Cursed Kilts"
September 29, 2026
- Talents. Every second level (2, 4, 6 and so on), the host offers you 3 random Talents and you keep one. There are 34 of them, and they push each run somewhere different: Glass Cannon, Bomb Enthusiast, Gunslinger, Pet Parent, Card Shark, Momentum, Second Wind, Loot Goblin, Stair Sense, Haggler, Pack Rat and more. Not ready to choose? Tap "Decide later" and pick from the Info panel whenever you like.
- Pick-a-box. Beating a Headliner no longer drops a plain crate. It drops three themed prize boxes, like the Arsonist's Box, the Gambler's Box or the Coward's Box, and you only get to keep one. Walk onto your favourite and the stagehands take the other two away. Themed boxes hold an extra prize and roll better enchantments.
- 23 weird new items. The Wand of Poultry turns monsters into Very Angry Chickens. The Mystery Potion does one of ten things, most of them good. The Industrial Magnet yanks every enemy in sight up to you (bring dynamite). The Swap Stick trades places with a monster. The Briefcase of Cash pays monsters to quit the show. Plus a Pocket Rocket, a Ray Gun that sometimes turns enemies into gold, a Submachine Gun, a Tesla Wand, a Slapping Fish, a Haunted Book that casts spells on its own, Loaded Dice, a Party Mask that makes monsters dance, a Panic Button and three enchanted gems.
- Cursed gear. Big upside, real catch, and once it's on it stays on until the next floor. The Berserker Kilt (huge damage, no potions), the Trophy of Hubris (double gold and Hype, but the whole floor wakes up), the Ring of Greed and the Glass Helm.
- Item sets. Wear every piece for a bonus: Kitchen Nightmare (Butcher Cleaver, Oven Mitts, Frying Pan Helmet), Riot Gear, Night School and Bling Bling. The item menu shows how many pieces you have on.
- Spam that potion. Using an item no longer closes your bag, so you can tap Use again and again on a stack.
- Deeper floors hit harder. With all this new power, monsters from Floor 4 down get tougher faster to keep the dungeon honest.
- 11 new achievements for Talents, boxes, Epics, chickens, bribes, cursed gear, matching outfits and one very useless potion effect.
- The host reminds you that all Talents are non-refundable, non-transferable and legally not a personality.
v0.10.0 "No Two Crowbars Alike"
September 29, 2026
- Gear rarity. Weapons, armor, hats and trinkets now drop as Uncommon, Rare or Epic, with 1, 2 or 3 random enchantments. Deeper floors and fancier Prize Crates roll better. You can spot the rarity by the coloured border in your bag.
- 40 enchantments. Flaming weapons set things on fire. Chained ones zap a second monster. Sticky ones glue enemies in place. Gear "of Unfortunate Explosions" makes your kills blow up on their friends, "of Spite" hits back when you get hit, "of Cowardice" makes you slippery when you're losing, and "of the Unpaid Intern" leaves a free consumable in your bag on every floor. Enchanted gear also sells for more.
- Season Sponsors. Every run, two sponsors buy the naming rights (announced on Floor 1, listed in the Info panel). Their merchandise turns up more often and their favourite enchantments roll more. A Lighter Fluid run plays very differently from a Casino run.
- Loot leaks between zones. Now and then a floor drops something from the zone before or after it, so the Sewers are no longer the same 20 items every time.
- The host would like you to know that the Crowbar of Poor Decisions is not a metaphor. It is a crowbar.
v0.9.1 "Everything Must Go"
September 29, 2026
- The item menu floats now. Tap something in your bag and its Use, Equip, Sell and Drop buttons pop up right next to it, on top of everything, always fully on screen. No more scrolling down to find them.
- Full screen bag. On phones, the new Full screen button stretches your bag up to fill the screen. Tap Shrink to put it back.
- Sell several at once. Standing next to Brisket, tap Sell several in your bag (or pick it from his Sell menu), tap every item you want gone, and sell the lot in one go. The bar shows the running total, stacks sell whole, and there's an All button for full clearance days.
- Brisket reports record quarterly profits. The host reports that Brisket has never paid a single tax in his life.
v0.9.0 "Some Assembly Required"
September 29, 2026
- Stair puzzles. From Floor 2, about half the floors come with a twist the host announces when you arrive, and killing the Headliner is no longer enough on its own:
- Hidden stairs: the stairs aren't where they usually are, and you can't see them at all. Find the big red lever somewhere on the floor and pull it. The log tells you roughly which way the stairs appeared.
- Pressure plates: three plates are scattered around the floor. Stomp on every one to break the seal.
- The Keyholder: a glowing blue, extra-tough monster is carrying the stair key. Hunt it down. It can't be charmed, nice try.
- Fake walls. Some floors hide a second secret room behind a wall with no crack at all. Walk into the right wall and you fall straight through into a stash of gold and loot.
- Scrawled notes. Earlier Delvers left 40 different notes lying around. Step on one to read it. Some are jokes, some are warnings, and a few are actual hints.
- 9 new achievements for pulling levers, stomping plates, robbing Keyholders, walking through walls and reading the dungeon's comment section.
- Floor 1, the Finale and the Daily Dungeon stay puzzle-free. The host insists the puzzles were "designed by professionals". They were designed by a raccoon with a clipboard.
v0.8.1 "Look, Don't Touch"
September 28, 2026
- Press and hold to inspect. On phones, tablets and the apps, press and hold any tile to see what's there: monsters (with level, health and what they do), items on the floor, traps, fire, shrines, the scenery, all of it. It's the same info mouse players get by hovering.
- Holding never moves you or attacks anything, so you can poke at that suspicious breathing crate all you like. A quick tap still moves and attacks like before.
- The host would like you to know that staring at a monster does not count as fighting it.
v0.8.0 "The Gloves Come Off"
September 28, 2026
- The dungeon got meaner the deeper you go. Delvers were strolling to the Finale like it was a buffet. Starting on Floor 4, every floor down makes monsters and Headliners a bit tougher and harder-hitting. By Floor 18 they have about 60% more health and hit about 45% harder than before.
- More elites, bigger crowds. Elite monsters show up more often on every floor past 3. From Floor 10, rooms hold more monsters, and from Floor 14 more still.
- Floors 1 to 3 are unchanged, so you still get a fair warm-up. Hard Mode stacks on top of all of this, if you hate yourself.
- Reaching Floor 18 should now be something to brag about. Most of you won't. The host is thrilled. The ratings for dying were always better anyway.
v0.7.7 "Bereavement Leave"
September 28, 2026
- The Catacombs are no longer a wall. Floors 4 to 6 were eating a lot of promising runs, mostly at the hands of their Headliners. They're still tough, just fair now.
- The Bone Janitor hits a little softer and calls fewer skeletons, and not as often.
- The Weeping Bride hits a little softer.
- Pastor Grimsby hits a little softer, can't shoot quite as far, and preaches up new cultists less often.
- The Big Gloop on Floor 7 burps out Glooplings less often, and fewer at a time.
- In our test runs, deaths on Floors 4 to 6 dropped by about a quarter. The Headliners' union has filed a grievance.
v0.7.6 "Standards and Practices"
September 28, 2026
- The Daily Dungeon leaderboard got a bouncer. It now only shows causes of death the dungeon actually hands out, and it turns away a much longer list of hateful names. Be creative. Just not like that.
- The Yeti Grandpa achievement is now called Respect Your Elders. He would have wanted it that way. He would also have told you about it for forty minutes.
v0.7.5 "Late-Stage Dungeonism"
September 28, 2026
- Fixed: some armor and weapons in the shop cost a flat pittance no matter how good they were. A Riot Vest for 24 gold? Brisket was robbing himself. Gear is now priced by what it's actually worth.
- Prices went up again, and they climb faster. Everything costs about a third more on floor 1, and prices now rise 25% per floor instead of 15%. A Health Potion is 30 gold on floor 1, about 68 on floor 6 and about 140 on floor 16.
- Each Bigger Backpack costs double the last one. Once your bag is maxed out, Brisket stops offering them.
- New: Mystery Crates. Brisket now sells a sealed Prize Crate from the current zone. Each one you buy in a run costs 50% more than the last, so you finally have something to throw all that gold at.
- Brisket calls it "adjusting for inflation". His accountant, a rat, calls it "Tuesday".
v0.7.4 "Who's a Good Boy"
September 28, 2026
- New achievement: Best Friends Forever. Pet your pet 100 times in one run. Tap your pet while standing next to it to pet it. It's free, so it never costs you a turn, and the log keeps count.
- Petting from across the room no longer counts. You just wave. Your pet waves back, sort of.
- The host has asked us to point out that there are monsters. Right there. Waiting.
v0.7.3 "Unboxing Day"
September 28, 2026
- Open crates in bulk. In a safe room, a new "Open crates" button in your bag lets you tick which crates to open (all of them by default), then opens them one after another. Each crate still gets its own big reveal, with a "Next crate" button to keep the loot coming.
- Floating item menu. Tapping an item in your bag now pops its options up in a little window right next to it, instead of down at the bottom of the panel. Tap anywhere else or press Escape to close it.
- The host would like to remind you that opening twelve crates in a row is not a personality. It is, however, great content.
v0.7.2 "No Free Hugs"
September 28, 2026
- Fixed: walking into a monster over and over used to freeze time, so it never got to hit you. Now a bump uses up your turn, and the monster takes its swing. Tap the monster or press Attack to actually hurt it.
- The monsters' union thanks you for your understanding.
v0.7.1 "Inflation"
September 28, 2026
- Prices went up. Brisket and the vending machines now charge about 50% more, and prices keep climbing the deeper you go, since the gold lying around gets bigger too. A Health Potion is about 20 gold on floor 1 and about 65 by floor 16.
- Brisket got stingier. He now pays 30% of what your junk is worth, down from 40%. Selling is still worth it. It's just no longer a money printer.
- Brisket says it's "market forces". We checked, and it's his bar tab.
v0.7.0 "Chat Decides"
September 28, 2026
- Streamer mode. Turn it on in Settings, type your Twitch channel name, and your chat gets a say. On every new floor, at shrines ("Let chat decide") and after you open a crate, a vote box pops up and viewers type !1, !2 or !3. After 20 seconds the winner happens and the host mocks you for it.
- Chat can also type !potion (the first one each floor works) or !monster (once every 3 minutes). Whoever typed it gets named in the log, so you know who to thank and who to ban.
- No login, bot or key needed. The game just reads your public chat, and it never posts anything. It's off in the Daily Dungeon to keep the leaderboard fair.
- New For Streamers page with the full rundown, and one new achievement for going live.
v0.6.0 "Season Two, Now With More Teeth"
September 28, 2026
- Hard Mode. Win the show once and a Hard Mode switch appears when you pick your Delver. Monsters get 25% more health and hit 15% harder. Fan Favorites show up almost twice as often. Shops charge 25% more, beds only heal half, and you barely heal between floors.
- Hard Mode has four achievements of its own, and the best ones come with crates. Your death card says Hard Mode on it, so people know it wasn't entirely your fault.
- Our test bot wins about one normal run in seven. On Hard, it wins about one in thirty-five. The bot has asked to speak to its union rep.
v0.5.1 "Couch Co-Op (Sort Of)"
September 28, 2026
- Controller support. Xbox, PlayStation and most other controllers now work on computers and phones. Move with the D-pad or stick, A (✕) to wait or confirm, B (○) to cancel, X (□) to attack, Y (△) for your ability. The shoulder buttons open the map and info, and the triggers zoom.
- Button prompts show up on screen while a controller is connected, in the right symbols for your controller. Menus, shops and the bag all work with the D-pad.
- When you need to pick a target, the D-pad flips between them and A (✕) confirms.
- One new achievement, for anyone who plugs one in.
v0.5.0 "Bring Your Pet to Work Day"
September 28, 2026
- Rare pets. Five pet carriers now hide in Gold and Mythic Prize Crates and locked chests. Open one and your new best friend follows you everywhere and fights for you: Cinder the Hellhound Pup sets things on fire, Toast the Baby Dragon spits fire from four tiles away, Gerald the Emotional Support Duck heals you, Mr. Snuggles the Pocket Bear hits like a truck, and Princess Stabby the Unicorn Foal stuns things with her horn.
- The Charm Flute. Play it at a monster you can see and it becomes your pet, as long as it's a lower level than you. If more than one could hear it, tap the one you want. Headliners and Guest Stars are tone deaf. Find it in Silver and Gold crates, or buy one from Brisket from the Catacombs down.
- Monsters now show their level, so you know who's charmable and who's going to charm you into a coffin.
- You can keep one pet at a time. A new one sends the old one off to start a podcast. The rat and the skeleton cat still work the old way, and all pets now get patched up between floors.
- Three new achievements for the pet people.
v0.4.3 "Wide Shot"
September 28, 2026
- Zoom out. Tap the new − button at the top of the screen to see more of the floor, or + to get back in close. On a phone you can also pinch, and on a computer press Z. The game remembers your choice.
- The pixels stay perfectly crisp at both sizes. Our camera operator insisted. He has a union.
v0.4.2 "Marie Kondo Was Here"
September 28, 2026
- Rearrange your bag. On a computer, drag items wherever you like. On a phone, tap an item, tap Move, then tap where it should go.
- Sort button. One tap puts healing first, then food, then everything else you throw, drink or play, then your gear, with crates at the back. Finding a potion while something chews on you is now slightly less of a scavenger hunt.
v0.4.1 "Pawn Shop"
September 28, 2026
- Selling. Old Brisket at the Rest Stop now buys your junk. Talk to him and pick "Sell stuff", or open your bag next to him and tap Sell on an item. He pays forty percent of what it's worth and calls it generous. Charisma gets you a slightly better deal.
- Crates, gold and keys can't be sold. Take gear off before you sell it. Brisket doesn't buy things off your back.
- Two new achievements for enterprising Delvers, one of which involves making a terrible financial decision. 147 total.
v0.4.0 "Set Dressing"
September 28, 2026
Viewers complained that every floor looked like the same dark basement. It was the same dark basement. We have since hired a decorator. She is also a basement.
- Every zone got a makeover. The Sewers now have sludge. The Catacombs have flagstones. The Fungal Caverns have moss. Hell's Kitchen has an actual kitchen floor, which is sticky. The Frozen Depths have ice. The Studio has a stage.
- Atmosphere. Each zone has its own weather: sewer drips, catacomb dust, floating spores, kitchen embers, snow, and confetti in the Studio, because it's a party and you're the entertainment.
- The menus and borders change color to match the zone you're in, so you always know exactly where you are going to die.
- A title card now announces each new zone as you enter it. Dramatic entrances are in your contract.
- Players who turn on reduced motion on their device get no particles and a quieter title card.
v0.3.1 "Take Us Home"
September 28, 2026
- Install it. Level Crawl can now live on your home screen like a real app. On Android, tap "Install on this device" on the title screen. On iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens full screen and works offline, so now you can die underground, on a plane, or in a tunnel.
- Share straight to X, Reddit, Facebook and Bluesky from your death card. Your followers deserve to know. They will pretend they don't care. They care.
- The Daily Dungeon leaderboard still needs an internet connection. The dungeon does not negotiate with dead zones.
v0.3.0 "Obituaries"
September 28, 2026
- Share cards. When you die, the Network now prints you a lovely obituary. It shows what killed you, how deep you got, and my honest review of your performance. Tap Share to post it, or Copy text for the words alone.
- Winners and Daily Dungeon runs get cards too. Winners get a trophy. The dead get the monster that did it, drawn nice and big, because it earned the screen time.
- Every card links back here, so your friends can come and die too. Word of mouth is the Network's favorite kind of marketing. It is free.
v0.2.1 "Now With Sound"
September 28, 2026
- Music. Every zone now has its own little chiptune loop. The Kitchen's is fast because the Kitchen is stressful. The Frozen Depths' is slow because everything there is slowly dying. Turn it off in Settings if you prefer to die in silence.
- New sound effects for traps, poison, bows, guns, frost, chests, shrines, vending machines, playing cards and mimics. Kicking the vending machine now makes a satisfying noise, which the Network's lawyers asked me not to mention.
- Shrine blessings and curses sound different, so you can tell whether the sponsors love you before you read the bad news.
v0.2.0 "The Daily Grind"
September 28, 2026
The Network has noticed that some of you have jobs. To help, we now offer a smaller, daily dose of mortal peril, with a leaderboard, so strangers can judge you too.
- The Daily Dungeon. Find it on the title screen. It's a side show, separate from your 18-floor run, which it will not touch. It's one floor with one life.
- Everyone on Earth gets the same map and the same starting gear that day. Nobody can blame the loot, so the only variable left is you. Sorry.
- Your score comes from kills, gold, Hype, killing the Headliner and how fast you reach the stairs. Your first finished attempt of the day is the one that counts. Replays are just for fun and the leaderboard pretends not to see them.
- Leaderboard. Post your score under any name you like. The Network lawyers will reject some of them. The board is wiped every day at midnight UTC, when a new dungeon opens.
- Past champions. Each day's number one is crowned forever on the champions list. Forever, in this case, means until the heat death of the universe or until I get bored.
- Copy result. Share a spoiler-free summary of your run so your friends know exactly how you died.
- The daily maps rotate through dozens of hand-checked floors from every zone. Some of them are nice. Nice is relative.
v0.1.0 "The Loot Drop"
September 28, 2026
Good news, Delvers! Ratings were strong, so the Network approved a budget increase. I spent all of it on things that want you dead, and a small amount on hats.
New residents
- 24 new monsters across all six zones. Highlights include a Plague Rat, a duck (it is just a duck, please stop asking), a Nun who heals her friends, a Waiter who moves twice per turn because service is our priority, and a Lawyer who summons Interns. The Interns are unpaid. So are you.
- Guest Stars. Once per act a celebrity drops in for a cameo. They carry legendary gear. They do not want to give it to you. Please ask them with violence.
- Elite monsters now glow gold, hit harder and have more health. The glow is not a warning. It is branding.
- Mimics. Some prize crates are breathing. That is a normal crate behavior and you should walk right up to it.
New loot
- Over 100 new items, including a baguette, a pool cue, a halberd, a shotgun, and a sword that is definitely not from a lake.
- Ranged weapons. Crossbows, bows, a nail gun and a tommy gun. Shoot things from across the room like a coward. Viewers love a coward with good aim.
- A head slot. Buckets, hard hats, a top hat and a diving helmet. Fashion is survival. Survival is optional.
- Playing cards. All 52 of them are hidden in crates. Play a card for an effect that scales with its rank. Collect a Royal Flush for reasons that are none of your business.
- Throwables, antidotes, holy water, a floor map, a flashbang and a snow globe that freezes enemies. Please do not shake the snow globe near me.
New things to poke
- Locked chests and the keys that open them. The key is always somewhere else. That is what makes it content.
- Shrines. Pay in gold or in blood for a blessing. Sometimes you get a curse instead. Faith is a gamble and the house is me.
- Vending machines. Snacks at a modest 25% dungeon markup. Kicking the machine is discouraged, recorded and extremely funny.
- Traps from floor 2 down. Keep your eyes open and you might spot them. Monsters can trip them too, which is my favorite genre of accident.
- Poison. It ticks. It hurts. Antidotes fix it. Screaming does not, but we encourage it for the audio mix.
Achievements
- 145 achievements, up from not nearly enough. Some are for heroics. Several are for humiliation. A few are hidden, and I will not be taking questions.
Fixes and balance
- Furniture no longer spawns in doorways. The dungeon's interior designer has been reassigned to trap duty.
- Floors 4 to 6 are fairer. The Bride and her skeletons have been asked to hit slightly less hard, and they have agreed, with resentment.
- The deeper floors hit a little harder to make up for it. Balance is a circle. You are inside the circle.
- The game now has a version number, so you can tell exactly which update killed you.
- The art credit moved off the title screen and into the Credits, where it can be appreciated in private.
v0.0.1 "The Lag Incident"
September 28, 2026
- Delvers reported that the more of a floor they explored, the slower they moved. This was not a feature. I checked. Twice.
- The floor is now drawn in one piece with a layer of fog on top, instead of one tile at a time. Your character now moves at full speed, even on phones, even while being chased.
v0.0.0 "Premiere Night"
September 28, 2026
- The world ended. The show began. You're welcome.
- 18 floors across six zones: the Sewers, the Catacombs, the Fungal Caverns, Hell's Kitchen, the Frozen Depths and the Studio itself.
- Bosses on every act, a safe room on every floor, and a timer that collapses the floor if you dawdle. Dawdling is fatal. Watching dawdling is entertainment.
- Turn-based combat, classes, levels, stats, crates, Hype and achievements.
- One life per run. Die and you start over from floor 1. I call it a fresh start. You will call it something else.
- Plays in your browser on a phone or a computer. Free. No ads. The only thing we harvest is your dignity.
